Is Rio ready? ... http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/30/americas/rio-olympics-body-parts-found/

Anyway, fresh news from today...still far away to August. They'll clean the beach by then.
And I bet they'll reinforce security @ their airports.
_________

Brazil, Rio, the salsa, the samba, the beaches, the bikinis, the hot town of South America. ...The jungles, the river, the Amazon, the rain forests, the host of these Summer Olympic games...Rio 2016.
It won't be in 3D, I don't think, that's too bad. But it should be in 4K (Ultra High Definition).

You guys are into sports? Olympic sports? I am. I'll be ready.
_________

I was walking/strolling on the beach in front of the ocean this morning, admiring the gorgeous day.
And the Rio 2016 Summer Games came up to my mind just like that.

Opening ceremonies are scheduled for tomorrow, are you ready, are you tuning in? :)

This is it ladies and gentlemen and children of all over the world; share your favorite (and lesser ones) disciplines right here.
It's a world class affair...in sound and pictures. The best of the best against the very best. ...And with all the jazz that comes with it.

Bonus:

River of January?

Translated to English, Rio de Janeiro literally means River of January. The city’s name was given after a misconception made by the first Portuguese who arrived in Rio. On January 1st, 1502 the fleet of Portuguese Caravelas reached the mouth of Guanabara Bay.

Since the mouth of Tejo River in Lisbon is wider than Guanabara Bay’s mouth and it was January 1st, the lands around it were instantly named River of January. Who would have imagined it was actually a huge bay?

We say that if they had not celebrated New Year’s so much, we would probably live in Rio de Dezembro!

On demand: Something called the "X1" experience will be offered to customers with access to Comcast cable, which essentially puts digital coverage it into a cloud and integrates live streaming from the internet to the TV screen. Check with your providers.

More visual specialization: Something called a 4K Ultra HD will offer 83 hours on a one-day delay. Like back when 3D feeds were available for those with 3D TV. Visually stunning, but not much else. Again, your providers can provide more info.

• That's funny: http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/36963812

Read that ↑ article, it's short. :)

"The money paid by the [sports] ministry for the charter flight did not hit airline's account on Tuesday so they refused to fly the team to Brazil," a source close to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) said.

About that; Canada with the world's fastest Olympic goal ever: http://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/new...ver/ar-BBvdbyc?li=AAggXBR&ocid=ansmsnsports11

Enjoy the show, till August 21st. And please share your emotions right here; that's what this thread is for...high class entertainment of the best caliber...people's physical and mental strength. ...And everything jazz up and down that comes with it. Time for the Olympian athletes to give us the largest thrills right now; it's the whole world show of the fittest and the determination and the camaraderie and the encouragement.

It's old news though, but still funny. :)
I will be into the games big time for the next couple weeks, so don't be too surprised if I share some in this thread.
It's going to be active, and hopefully there are other members here @ ASR who are also passionate as I to share some too.
It's much more fun having discussions between more members than on my own. :)
That's what animates us in life, people's true accomplishments in all disciplines.

Plenty for everyone:

I love track and field disciplines.
But I also like all the other ones too because emotions are in all the entire games; team sports, sailing, all water disciplines; swimming, diving, ...soccer, beach volleyball, ...everything.
...Weightlifting, artistic gymnastics, archery, pentathlon, trampoline gymnastics, boxing, cycling, canoeing, badminton, table tennis, regular volleyball, triathlon, athletics, tennis, shooting, golf, dancing and music...all.

I'll watch up to 16 hours a day. Can watch 3 channels at once if necessary.
But most of the watching will be minor sports that don't get TV coverage.
I'll skip all the:
Golf
Tennis
Basketball
Men's Soccer/Football

I agree. Those sports get so much coverage that it is kind of strange to watch them at the Olympics.

It is impossible to watch everything, but I like everything. So I'll watch what I like most...running and jumping and trowing and diving and swimming and speeding and bouncing. The other stuff above...golfing, tennis, soccer...etc.; just the final moments for the Gold when and if. If not, I'll check the replays after the facts.

But yeah, 12 hours a day for couple weeks is a possible target for sure..more or less.

Most North Americans (Canadians, Americans) and South Americans aren't interested by the Olympics; they go to the beaches, oceans, to the lakes, play golf, play work, play with the dogs, eat hotdogs and have cold showers @ home with cold beverages (banana daiquiris).
But! The Summer Olympic Games are the most watched TV show on Earth. Millions and millions of people worldwide will be watching their TVs.
Good business for TV broadcasters, the best.

Fun guess question: Which country is going to win the most Gold medals? ...And the overall number of medals?
You're allowed to check the stats. :)
