Hey, so this is my stack:
DAC: Topping DX 5 (USB -> XLR)
AMP: Topping PA5 II
Speakers: Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1 V2

I now would like to add a subwoofer. The option that came into my mind was: using the RCA from the DAC and outputting both RCA + XLR - is this ok?
So is it right that this could work with an active sub?
What other options would there be? Is changing the amp a better solution?

Also, if you have any resources to good and cheap subs, let me know! (just found Rythmik L12 as a good one, but not available in EU)

Yes.

Yes.

If the Sub has speaker level input, then you could connect it to the PA5 output, in parallel with your Ascends.

If the Sub has Line output, then you could do DX5->Sub->PA5->Ascends

You could replace the DX5 with a WiiM or miniDSP, that would give you more flexibility for subwoofer integration.

Depends on your budget, needs, and priorities.

Check out @sweetchaos' Subwoofer spreadsheet:

Create new temporary filter view, then you can sort and filter the sheet according to your needs.
