Hi,

How can I tell from the specs on Schiit's website which of the 2 preamps, Kara and Saga 2, has the most gain/output voltage?

For the Kara, on balanced to balanced, it says: Gain: 4 (12dB)
For the Saga 2: Gain: 4x/8x (SE/balanced) and Maximum Output: >10V RMS

What does the "Gain: 4" and "Gain: 8x" mean.

Thank you in advance for your wisdom.

What does the "Gain: 4" and "Gain: 8x" mean.
It means that, with gain set to High and the volume control maxed out, the input voltage is multiplied by 4 (+12dB) or by 8 (+18dB), up to the maximum specified output voltage.
