Scandinavia

Before we forget, let us remember that neither Finland nor Iceland are a part of Scandinavia.

Depends on who you ask. There is no 'official' definition AFAIK. This is what Wikipedia says:

"Scandinavia most commonly refers to Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. It can sometimes also refer to the Scandinavian Peninsula (which excludes Denmark but includes a part of northern Finland). In English usage, Scandinavia is sometimes used as a synonym for Nordic countries.[6] Iceland and the Faroe Islands are sometimes included in Scandinavia for their ethnolinguistic relations with Sweden, Norway and Denmark. While Finland differs from other Nordic countries in this respect, some authors call it Scandinavian due to its economic and cultural similarities."

Personally I would include Finland, Faroes and Iceland but I live in Denmark which I barely consider 'Scandinavian' ...

Well, this is simply not correct - doesn’t matter if it sometimes is used as a synonym. The Nordics include Finland and Iceland, Scandinavia does not. And Norwegians are never wrong.

As a swede living in Norway I agree with @mags65 . Not that I actually care, but rätt ska vara rätt ;)

Back on track with notable innovations: the cheesecutter, patented by Thor Bjørklund of Lillehammer in 1925, delivering even slices of cheese ever since. A wonderful tool!

As a guy who spent some quality time in his younger days with analytical ultracentrifuges, I'll tell you this: The Svedberg was the man!
:)

ahem -- and as a guy who has done lots of chromatography and electrophoresis over the years:
1) so was Arne Tiselius (the man, that is)
2) The (late and lamented) Pharmacia corp. long ago wrote the book on multiple modes of biomolecular chromatography, but particularly gel permeation chromatography ("gel chromatography") of proteins and other biologically interesting macromolecules.

:)
