If he is not measuring in the presence of vibration he is not measuring it. I will admit that I don't hear this problem in modern equipment, but that could be one I am getting old, two the gear is better, three the effect is masked.-http://archimago.blogspot.com/2018/08/demo-musings-lets-listen-to-some-jitter.html
-What do you think amir is measuring in the jitter sections of his measurements..?

This is a set of extraordinary claims, both the sonics and regarding the crystals. Can you provide details on the measurements and results in enough detail that the controls can be examined for adequacy and that this can be replicated?I measured the output of the clock. At that point in time I did not have the tech to measure the output of the dac with adequate resolution. We were able to perceive the difference doing blind tests. We built a and marketed a transport which dominated the high end rooms at CES for ~ five years. This was ~ 1995ish. A lifetime ago.
The defense guys who need very precise clocks knew about this problem a long time ago and had some very interesting solutions.
Sounds like your USB took a dump. Make sure you don't setup any future unit with anything tugging on the USB input. I killed the one on my DX7 Gen-1 with a tight USB cable that was tugged on one too many timesPowered up my secondary system after an extended break to find Roon not showing the endpoint. Troubleshooted the issue to the USB (data) input on my Modi3. I've tried multiple computers (RPi3, Mac and PC) and multiple USB cables. The DAC just isn't recognized. The input is able to provide power to the Modi3, and the Toslink input works fine. I also tried using external power via the other USB input simultaneously, no dice. Anything else I can try before ordering a new unit? Bummed if it's a reliability issue, device has been great otherwise.
Thanks for confirming. It's in a desktop stack configuration so the cables have been tugged a bunch over the years. Fortunately the current Modi model moved to USB-C so should be more durable than the terrible micro ports.Sounds like your USB took a dump.
