With much trepidation, I am putting my 9-month-old pair of like-new Mahogany Revel Salon2 speakers up for sale. Anyone looking at this ad likely knows of their best-in-class build, measurements and sound so I will not spend any effort here expounding on their virtues. They have been well cared for, are in like-new condition with no scratches, marks or damage that I could find and come from a no-kids home. They have been used 80—20 ratio of music to home theater. I am the original owner and am only selling as I want to try the active path. Am looking for $11900.

I prefer to sell these locally if possible. I would prefer the buyer have a chance to view and hear them firsthand and insure they are as described. I want the buyer to be 100% happy with them as I was when I received them. If local is not possible, I would, under the right conditions consider shipping them but the responsibility will be arranged and coordinated by the buyer. I will facilitate in any way I can it’s just I am too old now to be schlepping 100+lb speakers around anymore. I am potentially amenable to driving and meeting someone for the exchange depending upon distance and conditions of sale.

I am working on more pictures to post. I have lots but they put a size limit here so i will need to resize. For now you can see the others at my usaudiomart ad

Thanks for looking.

I'd keep them , try some actives and then decide . The salon 2 is hard to beat for bass impact and overall good behaviour. Such a nightmare moving huge speakers and dealing with buyers .

Maybe slinging the actives out the door if they didn't meet satisfaction would be easier..

Beautiful speakers, but I understand. I got tired of schlepping around heavy speakers and went to actives.

Unfortunately, i need the cash from the sale of the salons to fund my actives (Dutch 8c) otherwise that is exactly what i would do.

It is like gambling in a casino: exchanging a well known successful speaker design for the today hip.
I remember in the 90's selling my vintage Marantz for the same reason.
I bought a new Marantz (then own by Philips) because there was an integrated alarm clock in it.
When I connected my old 2252B to my speakers to demo it I was close to cry: the sound was so good!

9 months old?

I bought my speakers (not Salons) in 1998.

Oh dang. It's a shame you weren't selling these around 4 months ago. I was in the market for a pair! Oh well. Good luck with sale, and for anyone looking to spend 5 figures on a pair of speakers, these are a fantastic option!

Actives are certainly not a bad option. I sold my JBL Synthesis 4367 mainly due to space constraints, but, also, to consolidate to an active system. Take it from me, someone who's already made the downgsize (downgrade...?) you will absolutely get lesser dynamics with the D&D 8C stacked up against the Salon2's. Don't let anyone else convince you otherwise that a enclosure 1/4 the size can capture the scale and dynamics a speaker like the Salon2 can. I think you only need to look at the power handling of the Salon2 to get an indication how loud they can go.

If you don't need the headroom, or the SPL levels, I say go for the smaller speakers. Honestly I wish I could have kept my JBL but the more I had them the more I realized I was only getting 75% of the sound I could be getting. They were too close to the side walls and needed space to breath.

i have lots of reasons for the sale (downsizing, simplifying my setup, etc) but probably just rationalizing. All the reasons (rationalizations) will eventually need to be addressed, its only a question of when.
