I have today a Nuprime stack composed by 2 sta-9 (mono) and 1 dac-9. It is associated with speakers that are 86db and 5ohm at minimum (so not difficult to drive but need power to sound louder)
I had the opportunity to buy a Qutest from Chord and it's, to my hears, an improvement from the dac-9. I find the Nuprime stack rather cushy, round, globalizing even if the Qutest has improved all that. It seems also that Nuprime have not very good measures...
Thus, I decided to go a step further and buy an HypexNCx500.
As Qutest has not volume control and I want a 2d analog input, I need a preamp.
Any recommendations to pair with a Qutest and this Hypex ? (budget < 1000 USD)
I only see the Topping PRe90. Other options ?
