I'm in the process of ripping all my CDs to computer ... been quite the learning curve, taken me near forever, and still not done. One advantage I absolutely dig about computer based music archives is the ability to re-create another "disposable" copy (CDR) at will, perfect for the truck, boat, camping, and any such similar abuses / handling ... this especially more important since many of my favorite CDs have proven far more delicate {some now unreadable} than I previously imagined. If the CDR gets damaged, who cares ... rip another.
Let me make a little suggestion if your not already doing it. After a rip open your player and edit the metadata to include a few things like the label, catalog #, etc. Maybe the producer or mastering engineer, any special info you'd like to remember. I have so many rips from before my retirement that I couldn't tell you what release they are now or anything else other than what a normal rip included.

thx Sal, the meta data issue is something I really need to study ... so far, it's mostly wav rips/files, although I intend to use the flac option in the future. Currently, I'm using a proprietary procedural based query-language db in order relate, query, track provanance data and more (such as DR measurements, comparisons w/definitive versions, CD/LP condition, etc etc etc), a temp measure, until ...

yep, tho I've always consider my username TB1, and having to endure/ignore the many lame references to protein all these years, perhaps I've become "naturally" stunned to any meaningful reference, even the most obvious ones ...

Picked that avatar b/c I'm currently in the process of re-ripping Vol 1 LP & CD .

Delbert McClinton - Never Been Rocked Enough
Getting ready to go down to the cement pond for a dip on this beautiful near 90 day and wanted to crank up my soul.
You just can't pigeon hole Delbert, Rock, Blues, Country, he rolls it all together into just great music.
Never Been Rocked Enough - A great fun time first cut to the last.

Enjoy the day Sal, it's cloudy and gloomy here, my only salvation is the fishing season is on the horizon ...

Excellent song. Luv that style ... why it reminds me of Steve Earle, I don't know ...

Delbert, Steve, Stacey (her sister), ...they are musicians and singers of many color genres: Country, Blues, Folk, Rhythm & Blues, Rock, Poetic Justice, etc.
Love them all, they're all part of my evolutionary music contingent. I discovered Delbert many moons ago, I love his lyrics and bluesy beats; have few fortunate ones.

Steve (Earle), many CDs of him (a bunch HDCD encoded); great sound, love the guy, very.

Stacy (Earle), love her voice, the musicians she play with, she brings a gentle breeze into my soul, immensely.

Earle's catalog includes HDCD versions?

My take on HDCD has changed very much over the years, especially having to rip 'em. Not certain if you are aware, in certain audiophile circles; the (non-HDCD) UNID-7 CD pressing of Copperhead Road is often regarded as one of thee most dynamically blessed CD pressings ever ...

Copperhead Road is a non-HDCD one; I have the same disc as yours...same number.

Here Steve's CDs encoded with HDCD (the ones I got in my own library):

MI0000349893.jpg
MI0001575762.jpg
MI0002798661.jpg

♦ This is all essential Steve Earle recordings. And the HDCD encoded CDs they all sound great.
As for ripping them, with integrity (HDCD remaining); you need a bit for bit CD burner.
And you also need a HDCD CD player/decoder.
Last, some CD players (DVD universal players), downgrade the sound of HDCD encoded CDs so that you lost the dynamics, extended resolution, and no more bit for bit recordings. That is very very bad...some Pioneer models do that.

Anyway, I'm a big fan of Delbert (HDCDs too from him), and of Steve and Stacey Earle.
The CD album covers I just posted above; all HDCD and essential Steve's music recordings.
