Part of waste land I started working about 25 years ago. It was full of brambles, nettles and had never been looked after.

I love old manual focus lenses from the 70's and 80's. They have a beautiful (wonky?) rendering, and they flare like crazy. They have.....character.

You are doing a great job with those crappy old Zeiss lenses. By which I mean, quite the advanced photographic eye.

My wife and I are near the midpoint of a 2 month road trip holiday, lazily cruising around the coast and hills, taking photos and being chill.

I took this one this morning at dawn.

I’d never describe any Zeiss lenses as crappy. I’ve used Zeiss lenses from the 1930’s -1960’s on Contax rangefinders. Even the old lenses are fantastic.

Most photographers now want hyper speed AF and smooth bokeh. No flare nor CA.

The old Zeiss lenses, while built like tanks, are NONE of that. The one thing they do have is razor sharpness wide open if you can nail focus. For some people, sharpness is enough. For others, like me? If it offers something unique, it’s workable — sharpness be damned. :)
