In an open baffle position, does the turbulence from the motor affect the quality of the rear sound wave…which is then reflected off the closest (front) wall and back to the listener?

Does diffraction off the rear magnet and basket also distort the resulting sound image?

Or are these non factors…or so minimal as not to be concerned with?

Depending of the size of driver I would say its certainly an issue, the HF directivity will be way off via the back.

Bliesma mid domes are dipoles. You can see frequency response for both front and back on their data sheet. There is some difference so they are not ideal dipoles.

Thank you for the information and resources.

Yes to your question. Even a well-designed OB will not image as precisely as a well-designed closed box speaker unless you vigorously treat the wall behind the speakers as well as the side walls.
