I have successfully utilized a Pi zero 2 W With DAC2 HD dac hat as a Roon endpoint. Setup was lots of trial and error and hair pulling as the Pi zero 2 only has WiFi and I didn’t have a usb Ethernet adapter. I finally landed in Diet pi headless install and SSH in to install needed updates for the dac HD as well as install Roon bridge. While at it I over clocked the Pi to 1.3ghz easily. I’ve been using it as a Roon endpoint and it’s working seamlessly and sounds excellent. As good or better than my Allo Boss2 streamer w a PI4 Running RopieeeXl. My next challenge is a proper case. There are no off there shelf cases that fit a Pi zero 2 with the Dac hat.

Diet-Pi is a great operating system. Running it on a bunch of Pi's at the moment without a problem.
Ropiee is nice if you want a headless endpoint with minimal interaction.

Have cobbled together a case from an Allo boss case that the top cracked. It works for now and as far as the Pi zero 2 w as a streaming dac Roon endpoint it’s solid and has been sounding great since day one.
