Ello, thinking of upgrading from the chu to the chu ii, mostly for the heck of it really, if the sound upgrade is worth it.
Or maybe there are other even better IEMS in this sound range?
I am quite happy with my Chu's, but they start sounding a little less defined and clear to me in the non vocal and treble frequencies.
I do like their neutrality tho.

If you appreciate the Chu's neutrality, then the added bass boost of the Chu 2 may not be to your taste:

FWIW, of the current crop of 1DD budget IEMs, I prefer the Zero:2 due to its rather smooth treble response:

That makes EQing this region to taste really pleasant.

Out of the box though, it will sound warmer and less detailed than your Chu.

I like a neutral tuning signature and the original Chu myself. You didn't mention a price range but I would consider Truthear Hexa a significant upgrade for $80. If you like the shell shape of Chu, Moondrop Lan is a sonic upgrade too for $40.

The slight added bass boost of the Chu 2 seems just right to me. I don't feel the need to use the EQ to make them sound right. I'm listening with my IE200s right now, and I always need to EQ them a bit to sound as good as the Chu 2.
