Kef lsx ii or Kef lsx ii LT?

Hey, I am also considering buying the kef lsx 2 lt or the lsx 2. The only drawback for me is the absence of aux input. I wanted to know if you think it would be a good idea to use the optical input of the LT version using an Analog to optical converted? Would I need a very expensive one to get a good sound?

Also I see that people are recommending the Adam A4V but are studio speakers good when it comes to listening to music or watching movies at home?

I've got the LSX II. There's an Ethernet cable dangling between them anyway, because I was getting dropouts on the secondary speaker and even if it happens only a few times per hour this is annoying.

I realise that doesn't answer your question. Your external A2D converter of course only needs to match the quality of whatever the LSX II contains.

For elegance and keeping things simple I would advise the lsx2. Here (Europe) the lsx2 is on sale often for what the Lt goes for new.

What are you connecting over aux ? A record player ?

Thanks a lot. I have been thinking about it and I think I will go for two Adam A4V and a music streamer WiiM Pro Plus. I am a physicist so I am a bit interrested in looking and tuning the frequency response of the speakers and I am a bit worried about having an All-in-One solution. If it dies then you are back to square one. The main down side is the Adam A4V are bigger and let's say it pretty ugly when compared to the KEF LSX2

My reply might be moot/too late, but here goes. I have tried 2 different analog to digital (coax/optical) converters, can't recall the brands. Sound quality was absolutely horrible, downright unlistenable. A 1960's 4 inch transistor AM radio would be ashamed to sound that bad.

The original kef lsx has an aux input. I read the lsx itself does does analog to digital conversion on this signal. So using my 1980s CD player I have to go digital -> analog -> digital, which seems a bit roundabout (!) But it still sounds good, at least as good as the best streaming sources I use with a direct optical connection. Of course, this speaker has now been discontinued - but it's available second hand so might be worth a punt.

P.S. Looking at the manual, the lsx ii appears to have an aux connection (not sure about the LT...)
