Im always dissapointed by the Infineon MA12070 and general infineon chiped amps

The never have the power in 4 ohm they are rated for and only a little more than a low powered tube amp in 8ohm
They are not the only compact class d amp that doesn't have the power they are rated for

WHY ? Why are they rated so high in 4 ohm when they clearly don't have the power ?

Rated at 2x 70 watt in 4 ohm, peak at 42 watt 4 ohm, continuous in 4 ohm is 30 watt,13 watt in 8 ohm

Rated at 2x80 watt in 4 ohm only has 40 watt in 4 ohm peak almost 43 watt, 18 watt in 8 ohm

That is almost useless for speakers like dali spektor 1-2, micca rb 42, OoO rated at 83db
which is only okay for background music with any Infineon MA12070 powered amp

A lot of manufacturers fudge their specs. Even the reputable manufacturers seem to "push it" a bit.

The chip specs are usually honest and the manufacturer claims 80W at 4-Ohms and 10% distortion. I didn't dig-in to check the specs at reduced power output.

But of course there's more to the amplifier than the chip. The power supply has to capable of supplying the necessary voltage and current (plus any power lost by inefficiency), there may be some required circuit optimization, and in some cases the chip may need heatsinking-cooling so it doesn't burn-up when pushing it to the limits. Or there simply may be thermal limits that can't be overcome (even with heatsinking) at maximum continuous output so the amplifier manufacturer may cut-back to improve reliability... etc.

That is almost useless for speakers like dali spektor 1-2, micca rb 42, OoO rated at 83db

Doubling of power is only +3dB so it's still probably not enough.

Conclusions
Personally, I think 67 watts is not enough for home listening. Today's speakers have become smaller in size and shrunk in efficiency, needing fair bit of power to get them to produce proper dynamics.

Another amp that doesn't have the power they are rated for, fosi audio v3, 2x300 watt, atleast they have some ventilation for the heat
