The actual amount or what i've told my wife?

For me this is a hobby so I count my outlays in audio as consumption. That said, if I where to make a living from audio that would mostly be thought of as an investment towards further income, but then I would have made different purchase decisions as well.

The difference between consumption and investment is sort of diffuse but I think too many people justifies their purchases as an investment.

I pride myself in the biggest bang for buck possible. For me it's value for money, no bling and as much value as humanly possible for the money.
My system cost me 2050 US dollars. I always immediately sell what I'm not satisfied with and invest in something else. I don't pile equipment. I sold a sh...load of gear I inherited and ended up with sleek, spartan, hermit...

And I'm still on my way of slimming it and trimming it down as much as possible:

Main source NAS Synology 250$
2ch amp Yamaha 250$
KEF LS50 (it was a bargain) 900$ new
Stands (hand-made) 180$
Beyerdynamic DT-990 - 120$
TT I got
Misc. (cart, cables, TT tuning gear and the rest) 350$

OPPO 203 $700
yammy AVR $700
maggie LRS $700
Schiit Vidar amp $700
Project TT (in an upstairs closet collecting dust) $400
ELAC B6 speakers (in the same closet collecting the same dust) $350

Over the years, easily >$50k.....more than twice that.
These days I only have about $20k worth of gear.

Luckily I've had relatively few bad purchases that I regretted.

Money wasted on
Lavry DA10 Dac
Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum Integrated Amplifier
Audeze LCD-2
some audio software

Best value bang-4-buck
Valab Dac
Yaqin Integrated Amp

Things that I never spend money on anymore
Pre-made cables of any sort
Audio software
On-ear, over the ear headphones

I am happy with my:

- Hegel H120 (2.500 EUR)
- ATC SCM 40 (4.900 EUR)
- Thorens TD 160 (200 EUR)

I have multiple systems and the amount of use dependent on the time of day and purpose of use. So, it is hard to say which one is most used....

Anyway, the setups I actively use are headphones and speakers setups in computer room, 5.1 in family room, and separate 2.2 and 5.2 in living room. Then I also listening to music with my Samsung Note 9 and headphones.

So, I would say, using original retail price, per setup cost range from $1K to over $18K (excluding TV).....

I feel like I've mostly spent my money wisely, I'm ok with the amount.
Really i think my only BIG mis-step was the Uptone audio JS-2 linear power supply and mac mini power supply+fan controller. almost $1500 spent on those 2 things and the result was noisier USB out from the mac. both are gone now.
atc speakers may have been poor from a price/performance perspective as well since i'm in the US and their prices over here are kind of crazy--but I grew up playing in studios that had ATC monitors, so that decision was admittedly partly nostalgia/brand familiarity.
no regrets on the 2 AHB2 Benchmark amps and HPA-4 preamp.
