:D There's a movie (comedy) called Spirit of '76 starring David Cassidy...

Some people from the future want to travel back in time to 1776 to the founding of America but they end-up in 1976. One of the future people accidently bumps into an 8-track, pushing it, starting the music. They ask, "What is that?" The kid from 1976 tell them it's an 8-track and he says, "Don't they have THOSE in the future?"

Somewhere in my spare bedroom I also have a Four-Channel (Quad-8) 8-track player. Here are some Quad-8 tapes I found, these aren't too common and I plan to sell these to a collector. Unlike the various 4-channel LP formats (SQ, QS, RM and cd-4), the Quad-8s and Quad reels were a true discrete format. However, like other 8-tracks speed accuracy, wow & flutter, scrape flutter distortion and phase linearity are hit-and-miss and often mediocre. Some 1970s Quad recordings have been re-issued recently as multi-channel SACDs.
