Don't install the new Sonos App update

Sonos had everything: they had great products, great reputation, great management, and success: and they managed to nearly ruin it by one bad firmware release….

They got rid of the CEO and the new guy is contrite. But will they allow rollback to the old app? Actually fix things? I have no idea.

Sonos CEO Leaving After Botched App Revamp Led to Customer Revolt
The Chief Product Officer has gone too - said by some employees to be primarily responsible for the app being released with issues. Products will now report direct to the CEO.

It was previously said to be impossible to roll back to the previous app because the server side had moved on too far. See #51 above.
I can believe "difficult", "prohibitively expensive", "major hassle", "not in harmony with subscription monetization objectives" etc. But "impossible"? No. This is software, it could be done, even if you had to re-engineer an entire new back-end to fit with the old client (or whatever nightmare you can imagine).

'Impossible' was my single word paraphrasing of a much longer explanation of the situation in the linked article, itself a summary of what came out in a reddit AMA. They're linked precisely so you can check the original sources if you're interested in exactly what was said.
