Two different sized active speakers with built-in DACs. Expect will see a review from Erin?

They have them on the shelves at the store, the finish is the same as the opal I believe and quite nice. They appear to be powered passive speakers.

Misses the mark in a few areas. Doesn't state sub out turns on high pass for speakers which would be ideal. Not sure if low end claims are f3 or f10, but 40hz from a little sealed sig 4" seems unrealistic. Should've just done the xover active and used a 4 conductor cable for the second speaker.

Hope these end up being better than some of last dayton stuff. DSP408 was a noise factory, gotta buy 4 of every driver to get two good ones.

Confusingly, the user manual refers to active crossovers -- which I cannot reconcile with the single input on the passive speaker.

Agree that these seem to be a missed opportunity.

As stated, it looks like it has mediocre horizontal directivity, and some other minor quirks. Looks like good budget option.

Horizontal directivity is pretty bad. Starts beaming significantly above 5 kHz.

It's not a clean neutral speaker if you're picky, but it's not bad for the style and price i think. Many will love this kind of speaker, and it's very plug and play which is an important factor on the today market. They will probally sell a lot of these with happy customers, but not to me...

Agree it’s not an awful value and I am picky. I do struggle with reviewers that try to gloss over problems though. I get that Larson may have to tiptoe around vendors but better to say nothing than sugar coat results imo. If vendors are going to shop reviewers to avoid anything negative than it becomes obvious they cannot deal with constructive criticism. For me, would be better that they simply did not offer the product at all.

A reckoning is likely coming to Parts Express. Will be interesting to see what survives.

Aside from the crappy DI seems like they're otherwise fine. The passive filtering has a perk, when the amp dies you can just power them with whatever.

Would have liked to see a pic of the crossover. In the review, it gets mentioned but not shown.

Also, did not realize initially but they lack grilles. Appears to be another compromise in trying to get to a lower price.
