OH MY, there is a God!
David Gilmour's new album Luck and Strange was announced today and pre-orders are available now.
A stand-alone BluRay with Atmos, High Res Stereo and more plus a kool booklet for around $30.
Never let it be said that David hoses his fans with huge packages of unwanted stuff for the big bucks.
Can't wait for 9-6-2024!!!
Now I can only pray for a US tour next year.

Nine years since his last studio album. Where did the time go?

My daughter is getting married on 9/7, but I'm sure you and I will be talking about this album that week. Prog rules! :)

That’s true! I thought it was only four to five years ago!

His dog looks like one of mine a few years ago. I'll be ready when the album is available.

He's been playing in his local pub in Brighton with his daughter (unfortunately not his other local pub which is local to me :()

If you buy the album from his website before Monday, your get a chance to buy tickets for a couple of pre-tour shows in Brighton...

It's an ok album. His playing, as always, is superb. The lyrics just aren't especially memorable. I quite like the "barn jam" that ends the album, where Richard Wright is playing too.

OMG, can you imagine being able to hear David playing in a small intimate venue like this.
I'd think I died and went to heaven. LOL

Agree - his voice sounds somewhat tired on this release, maybe just age.
He sounds just fine to me.
Anywho, who needs lyrics when David plays guitar
Do we really need any more kids screaming "hey teacher, leave those kids alone"? LOL

I personally love the gravitas that comes with age. Just a great combination of DG's naturally sweet voice combined with the rough. Like a fine casket-strength bourbon.

I liked Roger Waters' (spoken word) voice on DSotM Redux as well. Shame he can no longer carry a tune.

Amen. ;) I even like the way the sound of my own voice has matured over the years.
I'm not a great singer, but I can carry a tune without a bucket. LOL

I've listened to a couple of the songs so far and am very happy. It's not the very best DG, but it's really good DG, which makes it far better than 99% of the stuff out there.

He is like Bill Frisell (or vice versa!) in being able to use a minimal number of notes and gimmicks on guitar to achieve amazing musical expression.

I don't know guys, the music is excellent, but as others noted, the vocals are a bit flat. Maybe it's also a in line with the album's spirit, it's somewhat dreary and subdued. I'd like to hear a little more emotion and dynamics. All in all, not a bad album, but certainly not his best.

You Tube videos of the early show(s) are really encouraging. His voice still sounds great. And the guitar playing is sensational, of course. I gotta figure out a way to steal a ticket for one of the shows here at MSG - don't want to miss this.
