David Gilmour - Luck and Strange Out 9/6/2024

You Tube videos of the early show(s) are really encouraging. His voice still sounds great. And the guitar playing is sensational, of course. I gotta figure out a way to steal a ticket for one of the shows here at MSG - don't want to miss this.
Hoping for a really great video recording of the full concert sometime next year in Atmos or 5.1 !!!!
I'm super loving the Atmos L & S mix. ;)

The cover story in this month's Guitar Player magazine is an interview with Gilmour, FYI. They haven't posted it to their (non-paywall) site but hard copy should still be on the stands. It's a good read.

Day one purchase for me for sure! I agree with you about the packaging too...so refreshing to see an artist not forcing fans to buy a bunch of stuff they don't want just to get the format they are looking for. I hope this sells a bazillion copies!

Amazing the deal was finally closed. Their thought being if they fought any longer they'd be dead.
Roger Waters is a despicable human being. I'm glad David and Nick will have little to deal with him now.

David Gilmour Scores First No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales Chart With ‘Luck and Strange’

Reader Q&A with David in The Gruaniad today. I think gave some very thoughtful answers, he doesn't hold back when asked about playing with Roger again!
A tip of the hat to David for speaking the truth about Roger, a despicable human being.

I found it interesting that the interviewer named Division Bell as his favorite PF album.
I don't know I'd call it my favorite, that changes each time I open their catalog in my player and decide which to listen too.
That said, D-Bell is way up there on my play list.

Despite being a pretty big Floyd fan I never gave Division Bell a fair shake at the time. The tunes that got airplay where I grew up in the midwest just didn't seem that good.

But based on this post I gave it a full listen. Definitely some good stuff on there. Not a top 5 Pink Floyd record, and I still don't like those initial singles, but it is one I'll have in the rotation for a while.

Got super lucky and scored a floor seat at an incredible price for tonight's show.

Band and music were great. Crowd was a bunch of dead fish - very little life. Gilmour and Co. pretended not to notice and delivered nonetheless.

DG will be on The Tonight Show (Jimmy Fallon) tomorrow evening.

Pretty sad interview, which would have been better not to be published.
Just like his albums of "Pink floyd" without its bassist and founder. Also, let's move on to "his" ideas about the state of the world today...
Phew!

Reductio ad hitlerum, I don't quite get it? A Godwin point so early proves what? I'll leave you to your sad delusions.
This guy used the Floydian surname to earn a lot with giant stadium tours, replaying without bothering all the classics often written by his worst enemy (or his wife's, opinions differ) while he only replaced Syd. So here are two facts. His albums are a little less bad than those of the bassist although at certain moments one can ask the question.

Reductio ad hitlerum,
I hate to use that reference as much as any but in this particular case it's true, he exposes who he is every time he opens his mouth.

Davids wife Polly Samsoms message to Waters,
"Sadly @rogerwaters you are antisemitic to your rotten core. Also a Putin apologist and a lying, thieving, hypocritical, tax-avoiding, lip-synching,misogynistic, sick-with-envy, megalomaniac. Enough of your nonsense."

LOL, AMEN.

So no arguments, ok.
Otherwise these grotesque accusations would possibly be understandable but not coming from him uh well that's fine, we are always someone's racist or sexist. If a 500 kg bomb crashes somewhere I am GUILTY.

I liked Dave's first solo labum. The rest of them, and his version of PF, and Roger's solo stuff: big meh.

It is obvious that buyers of any solo album by ex-Pink Floyd (I include Barrett's which are a cult in themselves) own all the PF albums before that, even the last 3 (although I'm getting ahead of myself here, they are truly abominable, Final Cut next to it was written by Vivaldi).
