Easily my favorite: Ottorino Respighi, "Belkis, Queen of Sheba." Respighi's mentor was Rimsky-Korsakov and it certainly shows in this suite. Excellent workout for your speakers. And subjectively, the color and brilliance are marvelous.
Little known fact: One of history's greatest orchestrators, Respighi's ballet has only been played in its entirety once, that being the debut of "Belkis" at La Scala (Milan) on January 23, 1932. It involved use of an estimated 1,000 performers, thus too grand for ballet companies since then. This is just one of two suites he was extracting from the full work, and sadly there is no second since he died before completion at the relatively young age of 56.

I hadn’t heard of Francesco Zappa, at first I thought this was some Frank Zappa cross-over album :D
" . . . Frank Zappa (1940–1993) found out about him and performed Francesco Zappa's Opus 1 trios and Opus 4 sonatas on a digital synthesizer called the Synclavier. The recordings were released on the album Francesco Zappa in 1984.[5] Frank Zappa described the album as "His (Francesco Zappa's) First Digital Recording in over 200 Years". While assumed by many to have been related, Frank Zappa stated in The Real Frank Zappa Book that in fact they were not an ancestor of the other FZ . . ."

Early music instrumental ensemble group "Danceries (director: Ichiro OKAMOTO)" album "DOUÇOUR (in Romanesque Mansion)", CSD-13 Misawa Classics, in stunning recording quality; really wonderful quiet 13th century instrumental music well fit for listening at autumn sunset time;

The PDF booklet (liner notes) attached herewith fortunately includes text in English; very interesting read for early music lovers.

The gem CD has been no more available in Japan and all over the world, I believe. About the label Misawa Classics, please refer to my post here on my "lute and early music" thread.

In case if you would be seriously interested in this CD, please simply PM me writing your wish.

Musica Florea (Marek Stryncl, direction):
in Disk No.5 of "200 Ans De Musique À Versailles" (Musique Du Baroque Français – MBF 1107, 20xCD Compilation, released in November 2007).

Please refer to my post here on my "lute and early music" thread for the details of the 20xCD compilation box set "200 Ans De Musique À Versailles".

I really love the style and stunning performance of Musica Florea (dir. Marek Stryncl) as well as the recording quality in this CD No.5, especially the Symphonies by De Lalande; as for exactly the same De Lalande music, I cannot find them performed by this kind of baroque orchestra elsewhere including YouTube. (Please let me know if you would find some on YouTube and/or elsewhere.)
