TLDR: Looking for value/budget recommendations for a 2 or 3 channel amp to run LCR and a 1000W X 2 amp to run subwoofers.
I just recently scored an amazing deal on a Denon X6700H ($1100 on prime day) to upgrade from a X3300. I now have the daunting task of trying to look for a 2 (or 3) channel amp to achieve the extra channels of processing on the receiver (has an 11ch amp, but can process 13 ch with the external amplification).
Firstly, I went to swap out the receiver with existing connections and discovered that no sound was coming from my Behringer 6000D that runs two sealed Ultimax 18s. The "protection" led was lit on the front. I had stupidly left this amp on running non-stop for a very long amount of time because it doesn't have a 12v trigger and I've been lazy on manually shutting it down (I won't be in the future). Most troubleshooting advice I can find is that the Behringer is cooked.
So this is causing me to really dive into a few solutions and I find that amplifiers are much more difficult to understand where the fundamental value points are. I try to maximize my budget and determine an acceptable point of diminishing returns.
Optimally, I would like to get a 2 or 3 channel amplifier to run the main LR and center (which are currently KEF Q100s but am preparing to get Ascend Acoustics Sierra LX). I see prices all over the place from the small class d amps to outrageous flux capacitor looking amplifiers. Where is the best value add for this scenario? The Sierra LX says they are rated at 350W continuous, but I doubt I need to throw that much power at them. What would be a reasonable price point to compare solutions for this? I don't want to spend alot, but I do want something reliable. The monoprice or emotiva 2 or 3 channel amps seem ridulously expensive compared to these higher wattage Fosi amps I see on Amazon. Can someone help me understand where the value proposition is as the price increases on an equivalent wattage amplifier?
Additionally, I need to replace the Behringer 6000d (which is out of stock everywhere). Honestly it's not very good, but nothing else seems to come close to the value point. I want to push 1000W rms a channel (2 channels) into 4 ohm loads. I'm flexible on the wattage if the solution will be more reliable and have better features (I hate the pro connections and crazy line level voltage issues). Unbalanced RCA, standard speaker terminals, and factory cooling that doesn't need diy fan modification would be a godsend).
Thank you in advance for any advice. Cheers!
