Recently purchased a pair of Ascend Sierra LX and awaiting Sierra Horizon V2 center for a 3.1 setup. Have been using a Yamaha A-660 to this point. Have an Integra drx-3.4 on deck to use as a pre/pro once I decide which amp. In addition to which amp had a couple general newb questions come up.

1. Part of my desire to add an amp is due to the fact that I’m having to turn up my receiver more than I was used to with previous speakers if listening at higher volumes. I’m concerned about damaging my speakers by them not having enough power. I’ve heard nothing unusual and we’re not talking super loud, maybe 90db if I had to take a guess. Again this is with a Yamaha AVR currently rated at 95w 2ch. It will soon be replaced by an Integra drx-3.4 as a pre/ pro running an amp but fwiw it’s 100w 2 ch.

Should I be concerned about damaging my LX’s by under powering them?

2. Will adding an amp make the LX’s and Horizon V2 for that matter, reach more of their full potential?

3. Amps I’m considering are:

Hypex NC252mp 150w 8ohm

Hypex NC502mp 350w 8ohm

Hypex NCx500 380w 8ohm

Purifi 1ET6525SA 230w 8ohm

Any of these a better option than another?

I did plan on running the Horizon V2 from amp along with L/R. Any reason I wouldn’t want to amp the center also?

I appreciate the responses and discussion. If more info is necessary let me know. Thanks

At a minimum, I'd add in the Nilai and Orchard. Then it's just a price/power/features choice, they're all superb amplifiers.
