AD1938 VS CS42448 DAC/ADC

ES9080 5 euros at Mouser + bonus 4 channels 2xspdif out
But, no hardware mode.

The chips are both great. The boards has great layout.
But on AD1938 board, opamps are incompatible with board supplu voltages. Its a pity as the opamps are great with the right supply.
The CS42448 has passive components in output filter. Those components are to physically small to handle levels over -20dBFS without added distortion. (except between 500 and 1000 Hz)
The components can be removed and a new output filter can be made, but be aware of the 1,5 volt DC on DAC outputs.

I'm looking for a ready built board.
I'm not sure this topic is still active...

ESS and AKM are popular ADC/DAC makers in the audio world. ESS Evaluation boards are made by third parties. So you can look at the ESSTech website, select a chip, then search for the evaluation board. AKM makes some of its own evaluation boards. E1DA Cosmos is a USB ADC, the designer actively supports it on ASR, and there are several experienced designers on ASR.

But the price of the CS42448 Board in link is extremly cheap.
And removing some components and shorting others are something that is doable for a solderer. The good measurements is there if two and two outputs are used balanced
Typically 16 bit SINAD

One perk of the CS42448 is that it listens to the input samplerate on TDM and choses the right one
