I currently have JBL LSR308MK2s. Have had them for years now. Lovely first pair of monitors. I’ve been saving, and I think I’m finally at a point as a producer where I can justify taking a step up.

The music I like to make is mostly focused in the low end. Kicks, percussive basses, thumpy shit. I need some “oomph”. Not that the JBLs i got dont have oomph, but i want some higher quality sound.

Any recs in the ~$1500 pair realm that would be a good fit? Thanks.

The Focal Twin Evo would give you deeper bass response:

but substantially worse off-axis response due to the MTM design:

Apart from that, there's no studio monitor pair within your budget that would meaningfully improve on bass, afaik.

A sub or two would do the trick though, so consider keeping the 308's and adding two subs.

Add two (used) svs sb 2000 and you're all set, zero competition (unless you have a really big room)

I was going to say BMR Monitors. They have an amazing low end. I bought mine new for $1700 in 2020. But the site says they want $2000+ now. Ouch...

If you can find a used pair in great shape for $1200 that would be my suggestion.

You haven't mentioned the size of your room but unless it is on a larger side, I would highly recommend looking at a pair of Sierra LX from Ascend Acoustics ($1,548 with free shipping):

They are very flat and have unusually strong bass for a compact bookshelf/standmount speakers. But if you really need a punchy bass then I would agree with previous posters: there is no way of achieving this other than by adding a subwoofer.
