The remastered "Lark's Tongue in Aspic" by King Crimson. Particularly Lark's Tongue in Aspic parts 1 and 2. Bruford's bass drum at the end of part 2 is very demanding.
"John's Song #2" by The Mahavishnu Orchestra off the Lost Trident Sessions. Dynamics, bass, clarity.....it has all of that.
"In my Time of Dying" Led Zeppelin off Physical Graffitti. Surprisingly good recording considering how ****** most LZ recordings are. Dynamic.
Copeland's "Fanfare for the Common Man" Telarc label. The opening gong (tam-tam?) and bass drum will knock your ass right off of your chair.
Anything off "Exit Stage Left" by Rush. Excellent live recording.
Anything off "Brain Salad Surgery" by Emerson Lake and Palmer, particularly "Tocatta". Horrible recording of great music. If your system makes that shit sound good, you have a winner.
Edit to add "Wounded Knee" by Primus off Pork Soda. One of the best drum recordings I have ever heard. Maybe THE best.
