Why the dislike of external power supplies?

Nothing is set yet, but the current amplifier needs 53v, +12v, -12v and 4 amp. I’m still playing around with if it makes more sense (as suggested above) to have the regulation in the amplifier box or in the PSU, so the PSU might end up a bit above that.
