Unfortunately, my job cannot be done at home. And since the panic has not seemed to have reached significant levels here, my drive to and from work is just as crowded and onerous as ever.

My commute actually seems to have gotten more crowded. I think fewer people are carpooling or riding the bus.

This raises the question what a lot of businesses, particularly those carrying debt, are going to do over the coming weeks or months.

Yesterday we went to one of or favorite places for lunch not only because we like their food but they always keep the place very clean and the person that takes the orders and money doesn't make the food. There were no other customers the entire time we were there.
My niece is out of work for at least 3 weeks without pay. This is going to hit the economy hard.

Commuting into London last week I didn't notice much difference, though the pub was very quiet at lunchtime on Friday.
I'm on holiday in Somerset this week, hope they don't close the pubs and restaurants before the end of the week.
Next week my wife starts chemo, the usual advice for chemo is to reduce risk of infections generally, so she will be self isolating a lot, I'm expecting to be told by the clinic to also isolate a lot. I already work from home a lot all, there is little point me being in the office most days with the team scattered around the globe, so work will be simple for me.
Not socialising with many people is going to be quite damagingly for a lot of people, who are not used to it, expect more weirdness than normal on social media.

Math teacher; we are closed for spring break this week and closed for safety the week after.

They mentioned having kids go online for the missed week, but not in the week they are out, and likely doing the district’s virtual course and not having their own teachers teach them for that week on what they missed. It’s going to be a disaster, kids having to make up a week’s worth of material while still attending school and how the hell am I supposed to teach the successive material if they are learning the prerequisites simultaneously? Next Friday we have a staff meeting to [hopefully] address all this.

Not punched the time clock since 2002.

Major activity here is taking a nap while I wait for the maxed-out Social Security checks to start arriving in May of 2022.

Worked telecom when I finally got a "real" job, have had extended visits to many US cities, both large and tiny, and spent time in Tokyo and HongKong.

Live in what used to be the distant suburbs of Tampa.

I go out once a week or so and get enough stuff to last another week.

Without all the media coverage I would not yet have noticed a difference, except for one thing:

When I last went to Sam's Club, there was a person standing by the existing sanitizing wipe dispenser for the shopping cart handles limiting me to one instead of two squares. If I didn't know we are all doomed, I would have put it down to cost cutting The American Way - spend $15/hour on an attendant to monitor the usage of something that might otherwise be consumed at a rate of $2/hour.

I gave her my frowny face, because I use them not to wipe but to wrap the handle.

Inside, I found a credit card application pamphlet, and used that for my lesser hand.

I guess I'll take a paper towel with me next time so I won't need to frown at her again.

Good luck everyone, we all need it, we'll all be exposed eventually, I presume.

I've been blocked from going to work tomorrow. Interestingly, large parts of the company can already work from home but are not told to do so yet.

My company also have a lot of telephony agents who are using stationary computers, I've been helping prepare so that these people also can work from home. This plan essentially boils down to people bringing their stationary computers home and setting them up there. This is going to create utter chaos, I feel sorry for our helpdesk team.

I’m a strategic planner for local government, so can and will work from home from tomorrow. My email inbox has exploded. I’ve been having some frankly bizarre discussions about doing things in weeks that would sometimes take decades.

Just found out one of my coworkers tested positive today. Took 2-days to get his results back although he was self-quarantined while waiting. He stayed home the first day he didn’t feel well but supposedly it can be spread before you are symptomatic so we’re all suppose to self-quarantine for 2-weeks now. Fortunately he’s feeling better already.

I start working from home on Tuesday. I am contemplating purchasing my first pair of fancy speakers (Revel M105 or 106) to help cope with being home bound.

I'm more worried about what kinds of mental health support will be available to people like me when everyone comes back out of their homes and wants to get all "touchy" again. I mean, how long after it's all over can we still punch/slap someone who's determined to violate our personal space without it being a "social faux pas"? I'm voting for forever myself... but I expect some blowback on that. I know I'll be using the excuse for at least the next 2 years as the reason I can't come to any coworker's parties or the company Christmas party.

I'll still come in to the office "after dark" a few times... but I've got my gloves and a gallon of 91% isopropol to keep me safe. LOL!

I am retired but my wife’s office has released all employees to work where they feel most comfortable. The office will remain open for those who choose.
We have stocked up the past couple of days so are ready for what comes, if things get to looking bad in the city we can easily get out to our weekend place which will afford us a bit more seclusion and isolation.

My company moved everyone to remote until the end of the month. Los Angels public schools are closed for two weeks starting Monday.

Been listening to more music, watching movies, we shall see how everyone operates on Monday, although most of my team works remotely as needed. I wonder how parents will juggle the WFH and having the kids home too.

So who'll be home during their work hours by employers direction? If you are self isolating, Get Well Soon and Best Wishes.

My wife will be tomorrow and I think it's only a matter of time till I join her. Her employer all but shut down her office. Mine will also most likely eventually.

I've worked from home almost exclusively for over 20 years. In the past few weeks, I'd been asked to come into the office two days / week, which was really a bummer. So given we've now been given direction to work from home if at all possible, I'm back to "BAU" for me ;)

Our company hasn’t officially switched to full WFH. We spent the last week verifying and bulking up the VPN.

So far it's less annoying than a regular cold. If I didn't know about the new virus, I'd have thought nothing of it.
Hope you don't have it - and if you do, glad it appears to be a mild case and hope it stays that way!

My wife and I both are working at home until at least the beginning of April, per decisions by the respective college campuses where each our jobs is located. We're not 100% self-isolating but we are definitely practicing social distancing.

I'm an attorney in BigLaw. My firm asked everyone to WFH starting tomorrow, though technically global offices will be open where legal. IT infrastructure has been bolstered considerably to support a whole firm going remote. The open question is how much I'll be able to bill, given that our (soon to be first) daughter's kindergarten has gone virtual, and we'll have to see how much parental guidance she'll need. That will fall to me, because...

My wife is a neurologist at a university hospital. She has a rotation that will enable her to monitor patients from home for the next two weeks. After that we'll both be going on parental leave for our forthcoming daughter, so we'd largely be home anyway. Just fewer visitors. My sister-in-law was going to fly in from Vienna on April 1, but obviously that's not happening.
