Hi there,
I am going crazy over some good offers in the range of money I am willing to spend for my first pair of hifi speakers...plus this week in most spanish hifi shops there will come special 'VAT DISCOUNT ' offers, things may add to the list this week...
I read and watched dozens of reviews pust months but unfortunately I have no option to listen most of things i would select.
I would like to see your comments and advices, if you own, have listen to, measured or know about them...
This is my shortlist now with links in case you may also be interested to get:

- Q Acoustics 3030i 294€ @hifi-hut (Irish shop sends all EU, price is adjusted as per VAT at destination country)
- Q Acoustics 3050i 549€ @hifi-hut , if I add the original stands to 3030i I would spend just 50€ less than the 3050i, isn't it better then 3050i at this low price? (At least on paper adventage they are easier to drive with 91 dB sensitivity...)
- Wharfedale Diamond 12.2 303€ @hidden-audio
- Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 547€ or 12.4 588€ @hidden-audio(12.3) @hidden-audio(12.4). For same reasons as above, if I add the costs of stands to the 12.2 I pretty much could go for the tower ones?
- Wharfesale Denton 85th anniversary 449€ @euronics.de. The most expensive option and considerong adding the stands may go above 600€, but the relative discount is great.

Which of the above is best sound in absolute terms and which best sound for the money?
For you to know more or less my taste regarding sound: I had chance to go to one of few hifi shops around and I could listen few speakers, none frommy shortlist. Old klipsh rb 81 which didn't like much (missed mid range, plus plastic front and bulk design noy my thin). Other at higher price range which I liked: dynaudio emit 20 (the most i liked among what they played for me), elipson heritage xls7, elipson prestige facet 8. Didn't like kef q350 at all.

Thanks and regards

Hey there, fellow Spanish ASR member here :)
You did not mention the room size and that's also important - if it's too small I would probably not recommend floorstanders and conversely if it's too big, bookshelves may not fill the room. I would go for the 3050i, although they are brighter than the Diamond 12.4. For a bookshelf I'd go with the Dentons.
In any case you've made solid choices here, whatever you pick you won't go wrong.
Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks a lot!. It is for the "salón" (living room). It is about 6x4 meters. They will sit at both sides of TV, at a distance about 220cm to listening/watching position.

If you are near Dublin or in Ireland you should visit Hifihut and check out the speakers in person.

They are pretty knowledgeable guys and have a reasonable big selection of reasonable priced speakers - I did buy a pair a 3020i from them and I like them (and my wife even like the look and build quality of them) so I can be important to check out speakers before buying them online.

Where are the ELAC DBR62 availabe for 500€?

Where are the ELAC DBR62 availabe for 500€?
Here it is 499€ plus 35€ shipping.
Most spanish hifi online shops have it at 559€...
I saw them at hidden audio 399€ but offer only lasted few days and back to +600. Refreshing every day the page to see if it comes back
Do you think is best option of the above if i can get at 399€? I read very good reviews but some said it may be a bit 'anemic' and hard to drive... By the way I have a 40+ years old Sony 2x60w@6ohm stereo amplifier which I would initiqlly use and maybe later upgrade.

Regards

I'm afraid I don't have the knowledge to help you in this regard.
Maybe it is worth trying them since you get at least a 14 days test period?
I really like these speakers and will definitely get a pair at some point.

I would recommend that you look for offers (exhibitors, demonstration speakers, individual items) for Elac Carina FS 247.4.
I don't think you can currently get a better speaker for well under 1000/pair.

Thanks..where do you see them under 1000? I quickly googled it and all shops well above 2000€

Just as an example.

Many electronics stores are currently selling these speakers, as remaining stock or as exhibitors.
Take a look around your area and negotiate a good price.
Thanks, so those are slightly >1000€ the pair... Surely much better sound than my shortlist... but a bit too much money for my budget (up to 600€ in speakers(+stands), and later on maybe add 400-600€ integrated amp. if my old Sony runs short)
If you had to stick to the shortlist of the topic/survey, what would be your choice? :). In my city i have not many option to watch/listen speakers, and most models would not even exist in local shops :(

Have you considered going with active speakers? If your amp has pre-out outputs then you could use it as a preamp. There are really good active speakers (and stands) at Thomann which have been reviewed here.
Also Thoman gives you a month for trial period and you don't even have to pay the shipping costs if you decide to return the speakers.

You have to be a little patient, with luck you can get some for 350 - 450 pieces. Just ask Hidden audio, it doesn't cost anything.
If you have room for a floorstanding speaker, I wouldn't get a bookshelf speaker. Also, there are only a few good stands.
Most likely the Wharfedale Diamond 12.3 or 12.4.

At Hidden Audio you can currently also find DALI Oberon 7, B-stock, pair price, floor-standing loudspeaker (white) 829,-.
https://hidden-audio.de/product/dali-oberon-7-b-ware-paarpreis-standlautsprecher-1009138/

Two questions, how many square meters does your room have and which country are you from?

Im from Spain, size of room is roughly 6x4m, slightly less than 24m2 because some walls shift inside ...let's say 18-20m2 usable

I find it interesting that you consider floorstanding speakers per se as a better option than bookshelves. May I ask why?
I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything of the sort, it's a genuine question.

For the time being I haven't considered active speakers...I dont' get the point of using my old amp as pre-amp...This old Sony (TA-D705) has not digital inputs and probably not much sound quality as per today standards i believe ...if going active i guess i just need to plug optical from TV and optical or analog out of any other musical source directly to the speaker right?
Thanks for the suggestion anyways, i'll have a look.

Given the size of the room, I would go with floorstanding speakers.
Alternatively, I can also recommend the Heco Aurora 700, which you can currently get on offer for around 350,- each. Very grown-up speakers that can sometimes produce steam, but require little amplifier power.

Remember that the speakers are the last link in the chain. If you have ever heard what a used Technics SL-PG4 cd player and a used NAD amplifier (together around 200,-) can do on an FS 247.4 or an Aurora 700 loudspeaker, then you will understand my recommendation to invest the most money in the loudspeakers to invest.
