Teac AP-507 NCOREx amp announced

Rated only 2 x 125W into 4 ohms 1% THD? Out of a 700W module? What power supply are they using to limit the modules so severely?

Edit: unless it is not the NCx500OEM module, but a custom TEAC one.

It references a "High-Capacity Power Supply with a large toroidal transformer and 18,800 μF capacitors per channel" at ecoustics. That really made me wonder what was going on with the PS.

Ncorex Custom Teac edition, small power, small production run, high price? Haha

Yes, I would choose the Apollon instead for almost half the price and full power.

Maybe it has the nCoreX updated NC125NP. NCx125NP? You can run NP series bridged.

I'm starting to think that VU meters are reaching snake oil levels. You add one of those and a certain type of persona goes weak and the knees and immediately opens their wallet and asks "how much do you need?"

Teac will increase prices next month. Saw the increase at a German retailer. For some stuff it’s really a massive increase. Something around 700 bucks for their more expensive units.

But I’m not crazy about the brand anyway.

Amps, DAC's, and speakers are a solved problem.

Most can't absorb this info. They live in the past.

Well I can't absorb that speakers are a solved problem. I don't see them in the same category as solid state electronics.

Indeed, speakers are still the weakest link after the room acoustics.

And you still need an amp and DAC so why not get ones that look good? Unless the cost is prohibitive.
