I have a vinyl rig (VPI turntable/Ayre phone pre) on a console that also houses my vinyl collection. That grouping is way too big and bulky to fit on a second console facing my listening location that houses my AVR, television, amplifiers and speakers. Because of this, I need to send my vinyl signal across the room to my AVR preamp (Arcam AV41). I could do this one of two ways...run a couple of balanced interconnects across the room (its a finished basement so getting stuff through the walls is a nightmare)...or digitize and stream to the AVR via UPnP. I'd like to do the latter...at least give it a try to avoid tearing and patching drywall to get cables where they need to go.
I also have a PC next to my vinyl that has a Lynx PCIe ADC card in it. I can digitize the signal from the Ayre directly into the Lynx and I can successfully stream this digitized signal to my AVR via Foobar recorder and UPnP addins at 24/96. BUT...it drops alot. I've set buffers to 2 full seconds on , I've made sure I have a fast 5g wifi connection between the PC and the AVR. I've tried lower bitrates and depths...no help. Any thoughts on other software solutions (I think uPnP is my only streaming option for the Arcam) or potential fixes I might be missing on how to get this lined out? Almost there!
