Bose made a so-called Wave Cannon subwoofer, meant for commercial installations, and claimed it was banned from some movie theaters.

There was a Wave Cannon chained to the ceiling at the old Toscanini's ice cream in Cambridge, Massachusetts, down Main St from MIT. It didn't sound particularly good.

But the ice cream was delicious.
I used to work at a biotech company on Sidney Street, a long time ago in a past life. On the first generally recognized really nice spring day, we'd basically close up shop & troupe (or is that troop?) down to Toscanini's for ice cream. It was a tradition. :)
