Well I am heavily into my car audio and sound quality, so I decided to find me some car audio subs which had low fs and would make decent front room subs

Enter the ground zero gzrw38-d2… two of them

I then set about designing a pair of six cubic foot enclosures tuned to 20hz

Found an amp from Thomann in Germany, it’s a Pa amp that I will modify with a relay to turn it on and off via 12v feed from the denon AVR or a Dsp when I get round to that

They should do fine in a closed box. Le is a bit on the high side though, also don’t k ie how legit the 25mm Xmax is, but even if it’s half of that, it should go plenty loud.

They are in 6 cubes each ported and are very good in that

A few pics as I built… router with circle jig was used for the bracing and driver holes in first and second layer of baffle

Yeah, that may work as well. It’s a bit bigger than the “recommended” size, which I think may be a good thing. It will make them go insanely loud ;)

You can measure a potato on a Kippel system, that doesn’t mean it will sound good ;)

You don’t need to give me lessons in how to build a box but thanks I know my onions

And I didn’t say it did, just that car audio specs can be sometimes works of fiction

No worries, just trying to figure out your line of thinking.

Well, usually your lucky to get any specs at all ;) It already a huge win if you get a Qts and a VAS. In this case though, a full set is present, which gives some confidence at least. They do look like decent drivers, and the value should be pretty good. Enjoy

Decent output, good lows and relatively easy to drive beyond the point of falling out with my neighbours

All the drivers I’ve used in the last 15yrs have had reasonable parameters lists that come with them, times have moved on… it’s rare not to get ts parameters nowadays… some stunning designs, my current 3” coil IB sub in the car is quite amazing and doesn’t sound heavy or slow for an 18, although the rest of the system is also very good quality also which helps as it’s all a big jigsaw!
