Greetings

The Hifiberry DSP looks like a promising and affordable option to do DSP in hardware.
Unfortunately documentation especially on installation outside of Hifiberry OS is hard to find.
I managed to get it running in piCorePlayer and would like to share my experiences here:

I am running Lyrion (LMS) in a docker container on my Synology NAS that also holds my audiofile collection.
In addition to the local files I stream Qobuz. I found Lyrion the best option to do that. Most other music distros (volumino, moode, raudio, Hifiberry os …) are build around mpd. Mpd constantly crashes when scanning my large collection over the network. But this is another story.

PiCorePlayer and jivelite provide a great way to interact with the LMS from a local display. I enjoy the sleep function, dynamic playlist and other advanced features being accessible from the local player. There are multiple players scattered around the house. With the client server model of LMS they are easy to setup and control.

Please let me know about documentation pointers I missed or where the setup could be improved.
Next I will upload some REW Filter files for room correction. Let’s see how that goes.

I am interested to get adaptive loudness and a convolver added to the dsp profile.
Any help with sigma studio would be very appreciated.

I wrote a script to install the Hifiberry Dsp tools in piCorePlayer.
It is similar to the install_cdsp which I used as a template.
The script can be found in the contrib directory of the hifiberry_dsp repository on GitHub.
Please be careful, this is still a beta release and not extensively tested.

3 years ago I used a dac+dsp with a modified dsp to have 4 channels through the toslink (at the time the standard program did not allow it), and I added a variable loudness. I think you can also add a convolver. Also, hifiberryos allows the use of containers, that's how I installed LMS server, the player being already available.

Hey, that sounds great. Did you add the variable loudness in sigma studio?
I am still trying to learn the basics of sigma studio.
Would you mind to share some details?

yes, in sigma studio. in my memory, i don't have the files anymore because i sold the dac+dsp, i had used as a base the standard program, which you can find on the hifiberry site. i replaced the volume with the loudness variable, which works as a volume and a loudness linked to the position of the volume provided by hifiberryos. replacing the volume with the loudness means not changing the name of the volume module. you must follow the tutorial provided perfectly so that hifiberryos can communicate with the dsp. good luck!
