Hi ASR Community,
I need help! After building new DIY speakers (Maop 11) and combining them with a SVS SB 1000 Pro for my office, I tested a lot of solutions and now I am stuck.
The sound is already quite good but the subwoofer alignment could be better, as right now I only can control the low pass filter of the svs pro,
do not have a high pass filter in chain and no options to handle sub/speaker delay.
Users already told me here that correct filters and delays could give big improvements but I am struggling with finding the right equipment and solution now for weeks.
Installing software testing and uninstalling (for example loopback, different AU and VST effects etc., buying interfaces, dacs, and sending them back brought me to a point of ******.
Source is: Tidal (currently via audirvana, not in exclusive mode, but it still sounds a bit more precise to me than the tidal player - would be happy going without that subscription)
Eqs for roomcorrection are applied system wide via: Soundsource (right now I use eleven AUNBandEqs in a row measured in with REW - the four audirvana effect slots are not enough)
As audiointerface I use the Audient ID14 MKii (tested also Motu m4, I personally prefer the sound of Audient with its ES9822QPRO chip, the four outputs are in DAW through mode so the volume knob is skipped, therefore no readjusting of volume after restart the laptop)
For highpass filter (the SVS SB 1000 Pro doesn't have one) I try to use Voxengo Overtone GEQ.
Further I would like to handle delays etc.
A full DSP solution for Macbook (M3 with sonoma os) is what I am looking for!
Does anyone of you running successfully a macbook with an usb dac or interface as a 2.1 or 5.1 etc. soundserver with dsp via software on the macbook?
I also searched for extra crossovers like the t.racks DSP 4x4 Mini Pro, but would be happy to go without and having all DSP via a software on the macbook.
Also I think the t.racks, a minidsp etc. would reduce my soundquality as it would be the weakest part in the chain.
The Topping LA90 Discrete stereo Amp is connected to SVS SB 1000 Pro right now. With a software solution for handling delays, etc. this would be changed.
This sounds better than connecting the stereo and the sub separately to the audient, as it seems to be better in sync that way.
As the audirvana sounds better than the tidal player, I would also love to find a solution without buying the audirvana studio subscription
(wouldn't bother buying a software, but don't like having another subscription, and origin version does not support tidal streams...).
Is there an option to have r8brain upsampling, etc. within soundsource for example?
I know I start here several side issues.
Hope we can focus on finding the best dsp solution on mac for 2.1 or 5.1 systems and getting some tipps for best source / streaming chain in between.
Further information:
Overtone GEQ says no active channels beyond L/R:

Here is the reply from audient regarding controlling the 1&2 and 3&4 output channels:
"Unfortunately you can't output two seperate set's of signal and have seperate volume control over each in this setup, it would be better (if possible) to connect the 1/2 outputs to the sub and then use the sub outputs for the top speakers, which should also have a crossover integrated.
If you can control the volume from your computer, as opposed to the interface, then this is easy to setup, simply open the iD app, go to "view" > "show system panel" and set the 1/2 and 3/4 outputs to DAW thru, this will then send full line level without volume control, from the corresponding DAW channels. So sending audio to the analogue 1/2 outputs on your mac goes to direct to those outputs. If you send to 3/4 that will go directly to 3/4."
