Hello,

I am looking for an 18-band equalizer preset for the deadbeef player and Sennheiser HD 598 Over-Ear Headphones.

Thank you.

You can't just copy a 10-band GEQ preset into an 18-band GEQ.
The preset needs to be recomputed.
You mean, it will be recomputed automatically by the player itself?

autoeq.app, doesn't it have an 18-band GEQ calculation? I'm on the mobile, so didn't check.

I have to ask! I've been watching you with interest for years now and you just nail the stored knowledge information stuff. How do you know so much? It's amazing the amount of useful information you have in your noggin.
I think a big contributor is how I often don't bother memorizing the raw information, just where I can find that info online.

Basically: I just have the catalog, the internet is my library.

IIRC, it's a pretty common methodology among the younger generation, and a big shift from how people used to do things.

Really puts the push for internet access as a basic need into context :D

Very cool. I never thought of how it's being used by the younger generations compared to the old school methodology.

It doesn't have 18-band, but I think this should be close...

5000-3.1
70002.1
100006.6

20000-1.1

So how can I use it?
To correctly recompute an 18-band GEQ preset for Deadbeef, I first measured the GEQ's behavior and frequency response.

Unfortunately, Deadbeef's GEQ as it is now (v1.9.6) is completely broken and unusable:

There is no way to find acceptable values that'll EQ your headphones properly.

No GEQ preset that you find online, or create using tools like https://autoeq.app/ will work when applied using Deadbeef's built-in GEQ.

It is completely, utterly busted.

I would recommend to either disable Deadbeef's GEQ and use other, systemwide EQ applications like Equalizer APO or SoundSource, or to uninstall Deadbeef entirely and switch to another audio player like foobar2000.

Also relevant for @Chagall..
