Your point is that "someone on the Internet" said these caps are bad? Come on, you cannot be serious ...
Radiant Acoustics and Purifi don't agree with you here.
I won't comment, maybe I just don't know what I'm missing, leaving out this procedure.
Like I said not my experience so I can´t comment but only referring to Humble Homemade HiFi.
Before the break-in I also wrote to Purifi and got the same answer: ´24h break-in, afterwards no change´
So I didn't give the break-in any thought but after 1,5 months normal listening my speakers still sounded lean in the midrange. I thought it was something in the system but when changing only the speakers (luckely I have 3 other pairs) the Purifi was always the most lean sounding (always using the same track so very easy to compare).
I started to think this must be the Purifi sound and I had to accept it like it was.
One weekend I tried the extended break-in method, 2 x 2h repeating ´bass excursion (Spotify)´track at high volume (still save for the drivers of course but well above listening volume) with some cooling down inbetween for the amp.
I left the room while doing so not expecting much. The first day after 2h I already noticed already a difference but I decided to repeat the procedure the next day. After these +/- 4h in total I was 100% sure the mids sounded lower (same track) so I compared it again to my other speakers and could confirm the same tonality now.
Maybe you could use an even higher volume and shorten the time but I didn´t want to risk any damage to the speakers + amp.
(now 2 weeks after the break-in the tonality stayed the same so I don´t feel the need to repait this, don´t think there will be much more change).
Maybe it´s more important here because we are breaking in actually 3 drivers who work together, maybe the Purifi suspension or spider are stiffer or a combination....I don´t know.
One thing is sure, watching the cones move/workout with this method you can never imitate with normal listening.
