In my downstairs setup I have a new Onkyo TX-NR696 and an older TX-NR656

I want to run 2 back surrounds as well as 2 surrounds so I need to run 4 - 14ga sets of speaker wire . The wire must be routed past a door either under the carpet or around it in a wire mold.

The wire bundle will be too thick to put under the carpet or wiremold around the door frame.

So I had a genius(or idiotic) idea. Why not run an HDMI cable from the Zone2/Sub to the old TX-NR656 in the back of the room. Then:

The fronts and subs will run off of the Onkyo TX-NR696 and the rears off of the TX-NR656. My plan is to send both receivers the full audio and let them only play the speakers connected to them.

Is this doable? Is there any wireless HDMI without latency? Is there a better way?
