Hi

I just ran into this multichannel amp with a bargain price a few weeks back. I've contacted the manufacturer asking them to provide more details about the modules used and some measurement data but never received a reply. Is anyone familiar with these amps? Could anyone identify the modules used or are they custom-made by OSD?

The amps support bridged configurations on all channels. I wonder how bad could they be at this very low price tag?

Thanks

Looks like a very cheap made IRAUDAMP version, with the IRS2092S class D driver IC.

Nothing bad, but an old workhorse amp. For the price you should at least get 2 or 3 of these, not one...
If you take Ali-prices, 60$ for the power supply, 45$ for each amp module. 10$ wires, switch and connector hardware plus a cheap case. Make your own calculation.
Take into consideration there is no return, no repair service, no technical manual if you get a problem. As soon as sold, no one cares any more.
One could DIYS a much better amp for far less.

That particular model doesn't seem the best deal, this

or this

would seem of much more interest. There is a warranty, how good the service is I have no idea. Amazon will let you return for 30 days.

Surely you could DIY for less (though with no return or support or manual etc) however many folks don't want to do that. Hence though maybe a bit of a pig in a poke (though OSD has been around a long time by now) the only option I've seen for significantly more power than an AVR* for less than like $1500+

*as specified...hence the desire for @amirm to test!

I don't think Amir has any desire to test such obviously low class, overpriced amp constructions.
The second amp you mention is a class A/B amp, generating more heat than output power. The transformers are not the size you need for 1000W in A/B. Even a fraction of the rated power will totaly drain them. Probably a combined 5x 100 Watt rms at best for a short while, because of the undersized heat sinks. This is A/B, not class D!

These are no HT or HIFI amps, but made for the kind of installation speaker OSD has on offer- they call themselves "outdoor speaker depot", that may give a hint. When Amir starts to burry his speakers in the garden, he sure will be testing such gear.

I have the OSD Nero HTA4200, was using it for my 4 Atmos speakers.

I decided not to have rear Atmos anymore, room is just not big enough to accommodate 9 speakers, so I flipped the 2 Channel Buckeyes NCx500 unit that was powering my front speakers, to using that for the front Atmos.

So, I planned to use the OSD until I ordered another Buckeyes unit (was going to do so t-nite) , I put the OSD into Bridge mode, power my fronts, OMG, they sound incredible, much better then the Buckeye before, I have no idea what module is in this thing, but I am hearing the fronts like never before, to the point I will not be ordering another amp, they sound that much better.

I have no testing equipment, only my ears, I put in The Terminator 4K disc that I watched almost a week ago, with the 4 Atmos, Buckeyes powering the Fronts, the new way, amazing and much better difference.

Just received the OSD Nero HTX6250, the 6 Channel Class D Amp, now power my 5 Main Speakers, still using the Buckeye NCx500 for Atmos.

Definitely a noticeable improvement, thought when I started to use the 4 Channel in Bridge Mode for the fronts, maybe I was imagining the improvements, just hooked up my Center, surrounds to the 6 Channel in Bridge Mode, not imagining at all, Speakers sound so much better, clear, detailed and definitely louder.

With the NCx500 amps, had to turn the Anthem AVM 70 to about 16-20 for the correct 85db, with the OSD, 30-34, yes I have a DB meter.

I will run ARC tomorrow.

Still would like to know what modules are in these, but I am not going back to the Buckeyes until I finish converting the garage into a real theater, then I will decide what goes where.

Maybe the OSD is sounding better due to a lot less gain? Doesn't the Buckeye have a gain setting?

Could you take a peek inside to see if anyone can identify the who makes the board or see if the name is on the board? I just orderd the 4 channel anp & am curious as well.

They also have a site called OSD Audio but it stands for "Optimal Speaker Design" It's a duplicate of the outdoor speaker depot site. https://www.osdaudio.com/about-us/

There is no way I will do that, I have a Business Degree, not an electrician.

That skill set is well beyond me.

Tried to order one more from Outdoor, but the promo code was not working.

No worries, understood. The new code is "OSDGIFT" they hid it on the upper left hand corner of the homepage.

Received the 4 channel model HTX-4150 this afternoon. The price was $499 delivered. I took some pics of the inside before setting it up. I may box it up and send to Amir for testing after the new year just to see what the measurements are.

looks like a bunch of IRAUD amps with the Infineon IRS2092S cirquit. Would indeed be interesting how this old workhorse will measure.

Im considering getting the htx8150.

Just can't get passed my curiosity and the versatility is super useful for my needs.

What is the process of getting it tested by Amir?

Im not seeing that htx4150 on the list so I assume that guy never sent it in or perhaps im jumping ahead a bit, Amir probably got his hands full
