NAD M66 - finally someone makes a decent 2-channel preamp!

Could it be that you are talking about the simulated backlighting of the analog VU?
Yes that helps explain what I see: it is not done well and looks to me like backlight bleed.
Anyway I am not sure I am going to pursue it with NAD….

It is most distracting with dark screen content. Worst example would be the screen when changing Dirac filter (Black screen with white text in the middle).

I tend to use my M66 with Roon, has anyone found a way to use the VU metres when using roon?

VU meters work great with ROON: use the BluOS (cloud service) source and select type of VU meter you want

I missed something, too:
Is Dirac Live Bass Control already active and functioning or do we still have to wait for an update?

I have the Roon iwatch app Roon Extend: the crown adjusts the M66 volume control: it provides cover art and lots of functions….works well

Just a heads up.

The latest 4.4.11 update had completely bricked my M66.:mad::mad:

@Hephaestus, Mine is doing similar visual glitches after updating the firmware. Was working perfectly fine before updating.

There is a way to install older firmware:
the M66 will accept a USB stick to install firmware: when it starts to do an upgrade, it first checks to see if there is a USB stick: if not it goes to the internet for the update.

No way to install an older firmware?
It makes no sense to fall back on an older version!
Report the problem and an update will be made.

I would think twice to sit on my wrecked M66 and wait for an update, when there is a small chance to get the basic functions back with an old firmware. Not must trust in NAD here...

On the other hand: I don't know if there is a chance to revert to an old firmware if there is no display :(

What does NAD Support say about your problem?
Have you already tried a reset?:

Force Factory Reset
- Switch OFF rear panel POWER switch.
- Press and hold rear panel RESET tact switch and while doing so, switch ON the rear panel POWER switch. Do not release hold of the RESET tact switch.
- Hold down the RESET tact switch - STATUS INDICATOR (NAD logo) blinks Red, White and then Red. “BluOS Service Mode” is shown the front panel display. Wait for the front panel display to show “Factory Reset…” and then release hold of the RESET tact switch. Successful Factory Reset is indicated by the unit rebooting.

- For wireless connection, M66 returns to Hotspot mode and STATUS INDICATOR (NAD logo) indicator turns into solid white.
- For wired connection, M66 will simply connect as if it was a new player and NAD logo indicator turns into solid white.

IMPORTANT
Releasing the Standby button switch at any time before the STATUS INDICATOR (NAD logo) begins flashing red will cancel the factory reset and leave the M66 at Upgrade Mode. Just start again the procedure for Factory Reset.

Hello pogo, I am still wondering if you are a well-paid influencer or just a fanboy...:)

I have ordered my M66 today with the option to test it for a few weeks. I'm really skeptical, but I don't see any other amp on the market fitting my needs like the M66. I was tempted to write a critical review here, but it seems that the interest here has cold down...

A critical review is very welcome here (und auch im HF ;)).
I also wanted to do a comparison with an M33 in preamp mode soon. I'm still in poor health at the moment.

I for one would very much appreciate to learn of experiences with the M66.

I am still enjoying my M66, here is a link to my recent preamp trevails! My last post gives my thoughts.

I sold my Topping pre90, and D90, and returned my holo audio Cyan 2 for a refund. Along with a bit of savings I managed to get a NAD M66 pre-amp also with a bit of a discount.

I still think its very expensive but it does seem very good. The remote is excellent. It plays nicely with my M23 power amp (I have connected a trigger cable). BlueOS seems good. Works with Roon. Works with my local NAS. Dirac seems good. The screen is nice. The paper work is a little lacking, but other than that I am liking it and would recommend, if you can get over the price!

I also think an objective review would be appreciated; doesn't need to include measurements, but a thoughtful review of functionality would be great!
