Hi everyone. I have searched quite a bit but want to run this by the folks here to see if I am making sense.
My Current Setup:
Technics SL-1500C (in dining room) Built-in preamp >RCA> Analog input on DAC3 HGC (Living room) to Amp and Speakers (Living Room)
I also have a Wiim pro plus in the living room feeding the DAC3, and another Wiim Pro Plus in the house doing other Wiim things

The turntable has now triggered a desire for speakers where it resides, in the dining room. I am looking at probably the KEF LSX ii's for this purpose, and adding another Wiim Pro Plus to the mix to basically run the house on Wiim.

My question is: How do I set this up? Do I need a single RCA IN>>2 RCA OUT setup hanging off of the turntable to be able to direct the signal to DAC3 OR KEF?
Should I go analog direct to the KEF from this or just use the Wiim RCA input and smash it all into the optical out of the Wiim to the KEF? It seems like the KEF is digitizing anyway so does it matter if I go Analog in on the KEFs or hit the Wiim and let the Wiim digitize it? Should I still use the Wiim Analog out to the Aux on the KEF? At the end of the day, even if less than ideal ways (AirPlay) I want to be able to play the turntable to any of the Wiims in the house

Hi Aiwendil

I’m not sure I would invest in another Wiim just yet as you’ll be duplicating a lot of what the LSX’s already have so I would connect the deck directly to the Kef’s AUX input with an appropriate RCA to stereo Jack cable/adapter and you’re good to go (assuming your deck outputs line levels or use a phono preamp to achieve this).

As you already have a Wiim you could swap this in once everything was setup and working, to see if the Wiim gives you any advantages over the direct connection to the Kef’s…..connecting it as you suggested (deck to the Wiim and optical to the speakers).

As an aside, you might want to consider the smaller and cheaper LSX II LT as they offer most of what the LSX II does (including the AUX input but they lack Roon support). The LT version connects the pair of speakers (interspeaker connect cable) with a supplied proprietary USB cable that delivers power as well as audio.

Both speaker models have ‘sub out’ so an upgrade path to improved bass is built in…….

Cheers

Apologies the LSX II LT does NOT have an Analog 3.5mm Auxiliary input so ignore my comment regarding this as an alternative

Why feed an analogue source device into a digital processing unit? Why not feed the SL-1500C output straight to the (analogue) Amp?

How do I set this up?
Before I comment on configuration, first I will comment on your choice of hardware;

The turntable has now triggered a desire for speakers where it resides
...
I am looking at probably the KEF LSX ii
For an analogue source device why choose a powered speaker whose input is natively digital? (The LSX II's inputs all go through a DSP)

I am looking at probably the KEF LSX ii
...
and adding another Wiim Pro Plus
If you already have a liking for the WiiM streamer products (good choice IMO) why buy a powered speaker with a competing streamer device built-in?
For the same money it seems to me that a better choice of amp/speakers would be the KEF Q Concerto Meta speakers plus a suitably high quality amplifier, such as Advance Paris or Audiolab.
