I guess Apple are leaving the lightning contact for the world standard USB C ?
Maybe they gonna stop making lightning contacts, forcing people to buy the newest iPhone/ipad ?

My iPhone is on 16.5 and I just connected my B&W PX7 via the lightning-USB camera kit and Creative Labs W3 AptX dongle. The app shows it's using the dongle and not directly out from the phone. Seems to work fine.

My apologies...ignore what I said. I didn't see USB 3 adapter. I have the run of the mill, lighting to USB camera adapter. Back to regular programming.

No fix yet. A workaround with a USB-C to lightning charger is reported here but I cannot confirm.

I tested the workaround with 2 different USB-C-chargers with a minimum of 20 W
both worked.
this one worked for example

it seems that apple is checking
a) is it an USB-C-Charger
b) is it more than 20W

i have a normal USB with more than 20W, which did not work, it was not an USB-C

Also can confirm that a usb c charger does the trick.
