I was kicking around the idea of ordering a Denafrips entry level DAC after re-reading Amirs positive review. Not necessarily expecting it to sound different than my Schiit Modius, but it does play DSD - in case I decide to try that rabbit hole - and it has a phase invert button. When I did the Google search I got hits for Denafrips and Vinshine and visited both sites. None of the new “15” versions are showing on Vinshine - only on Denafrips - Vinshine appears to be out of stock of everything. The Denafrips site appears to have direct sales now. Inquires regarding if warranty service in Texas still being in place are unanswered - and I have asked Denafrips 4 times. They have answered the part about purchasing direct only it seems but carefully avoiding the warranty question. The new Enyo 15th is cheaper at $699, but the possibility of shipping it back to China instead of Texas put the pause on the idea of getting one. Vinshine was very concerned about gray market availability and I wonder if they had a falling out with Denafrips over that. Clearly, Aliexpress was getting product from Denafrips and undercutting Vinshine’s prices….

Now - act 2 of the split. Vinshine now distributes LAiV….

Alvin was pretty exceptional to deal with. I have nothing but good things to say about vinshine.

I have a Pontus 12 at home and an Aries at work. I like them. The Pontus is stunning and the Aries is not bad on the eyes either. They’re both very heavy all well made. The craftsmanship really is to be respected.

I’ve also had great experiences working with audiophonics and their international shipping (I think I’ve bought 4 things from them now. They’re also a Denafrips distributer.

All that said, I recently audited my audio chain and the DAC had much less effect on the sound than I had previously given credit to. I would go so far as to say I was really disappointed how little effect the changes made. I even set up some AB tests with much less expensive products and struggled to find differences. I don’t see myself spending money on DAC’s anytime soon and when I do, I don’t think I’d spend over $500 USD unless it was for cosmetic reasons.
