One of my friends is embarking on a journey to build a Bessel array using 2x5 pieces of Markaudio CHR-120 drivers
I am posting this on his behalf and with his permission

The sealed cabinet will be designed like this:

Q=0.707, Vb = 76 liters
2x12mm birch plywood potentially with Green Glue or equivalent between the two layers (refer to this:
)

The drivers have already arrived:

It fits perfectly into a previous cabinet he built for his Alpair 12p drivers

Dirac Live 3 will be used for the optimization

Here are the simulation results:

Showing the -15dB point here since that is likely going to be the 0dB point with his room gain

350W will be the max. input power to reach linear xmax

I will keep on posting updates as he progresses with the build and the measurements

Any sims of the bessel array with that driver separation, and how far away you need to be before it combines properly? When they've come up in other threads I've got the impression you need to be several times the array's length away for the response to even out.

My friend will listen from 3.5 meters away + I am sure Dirac will do its magic too. I am not too worried about that but we will see

I think 3.5m will be fine for an array of this size. Will be interesting to see what the results are!

Did this project get completed?
Actually this is one of my friends' project and he is quite slow :)
Last week he purchased the MDF (18mm) for the cabinets

The plan has changed a bit; this will be the final version:

We decided to max out the cabinet size in order to decrease the wattage needed

This way, he will only need 150W/channel max (xmax limited)

This will result in a max SPL of almost 103dB at 24Hz --> 109dB since there are two channels + some room gain

I will keep on posting updates as he progresses
Stay tuned!

Hei! Any news here?..

Unfortunately not :(
My friend has not made any progress with this project due to other priorities
Rest assured I will post any progress he makes (if/when....)
He has bought all 10 drivers so I hope eventually he will continue with the build
