Hello!
I'm evaluating to replace my Anthem MRX 1140, which has a nice feature that allows to manage different DRC profiles and also to create different virtual inputs to the same physical input (e.g. I have the Apple TV HDMI input, which I used for three different inputs : 1. Film a wide DRC 2. Music with L+R and subwoofers only preferred seat 3. Music Atmos wide DRC)

Is there any AVP/AVR with Audissey or Dirac support with these features?

Hello! As far as I know, D+M AVR/Ps have only 2 speaker presets available.
No idea about how it works with Dirac, only tried it with Audyssey,

Yes only 2 speaker presets for Audy, which means 2 sets of different measurements if desired. Each preset has flat and reference curve that you can set independently and switch on the fly with web interface or remote.

A bit rusty on stereo mode (i.e. other speakers not active), but that is third option. If I recall correctly just picks EQ from one of presets (bypass also option) and can set the subs etc. to play or not.

There are 2 presets, each has 3 slots. If you use Dirac that is default to preset 2, that means you can save 3 target curves. If you don't use Audyssey, preset 1 will be empty so I think that means you can save another 3 target curves there to have a total of 6 but on that, you should email Denon or Marantz for confirmation.

As to virtual inputs, I like that feature but I have never found the need for that when I was using Denon and Marantz that has the input assign features that are easy to do and can be done on screen anyway, so to me that is a matter of personal taste/preference.

OK, with D / M it’s possible to have at least two presets, and the absence of virtual inputs might simply come down to a matter of preference depending on the options chosen.

For me, DRC with the ability to manage two subwoofers is the most important feature. Should I consider other potential upgrades besides the following?
  1. Marantz AV10: Audyssey and optional Dirac DLBC.
  2. Denon X6800 or A10H: Used in pre-out mode, Audyssey and optional Dirac DLBC.
  3. Anthem AV70: ARC , but probably with the same fan noise issue

If you use the Audyssey MultEQ Editor app you can have more than the two provided for in the later Denon avrs.

Again - two presets if using Audy which means two different sets of measurements (including different speaker layout), one for each. Each preset has two curves, flat and reference, and can set them differently however you like (based on the same measurements and speaker layout). I'd say that's effectively "almost" 4 presets.

There is Onkyo with RZ 70 that has Dirac with DLBC with 2 subs out, but don't know much about it as never considered it seriously.

You have great products on your list. Denon's in pre-amp mode will still run relatively hot, one of the reasons I went with AV-10. Not a problem for most people, but I just prefer it this way (as well as additional channels, balanced out, and some top class engineering). Peng can jump in for AV 70, but don't think the fan really kicks in unless the AVP is in sub-optimal position without sufficient ventilation. Obviously there are Audy/Dirac vs ARC considerations, but all 3 of them are pretty good. Having 2 options on D&M is probably a good feature.

One thing I am not clear, that is, if one uses both presets for Dirac, does that mean 6 filters can be saved, 2 in preset 1 and 3 in preset 2? The guys in the Masimo training video seems to say that's how it works but it isn't clear to me.

If the answer is affirmative, then like you said, we can use the $20 app to save as many Audyssey files we want and keep both presets for Dirac so that we don't have to use the laptop to send files as often. Or vice versa obviously if people prefer to use both presets for Audyssey, so the key point is, whether preset 1 is only for Audyssey and 2 for Dirac Live, or it is totally flexible, even mix and match? May be @Oddball or @EWL5 who own D+M and use both Audy and DL can confirm this one way or another.

Unfortunately don’t have Dirac on my unit. Had Storm 16 with Dirac and ART for two days on trial (year ago?) and decided to keep AV-10 as is, pending the ART developments and release to D&M.

My use case if though quite different and Storm with DLBC and ART just could not perform quite as good as Audy with bed layer speakers that can do from 30-50hz at near reference volume. ART was not optimal as had to designate some subs as support which is probably why they are back to the drawing board. Given I only had 2 days, I barely scratched the surface, but there are some fundamental limitations that don’t make sense.

While this could be potentially solved by more sub channels, funny enough neither dealer or forums wanted to deal with that. Thus, happy to wait for new ART.

I have Audyssey on Preset1 and Dirac on Preset2. Not sure if Dirac can take up both Preset slots as I ran Audyssey first, didn't like it, and moved on to Dirac.
At the moment, I'm reluctant to delete Preset 1 to see if 3 additional slots open up for Dirac!

No experience with the Dirac option, my newest Denon isn't that new....
