julian already did a review:

if you need a lot of I/O, this will be competing against the Motu 828ES and RME UFX, and for just about 1200 USD, at a very appealing price point.

Don't care about the chips - it's the performance that counts.

From what I've read of their other stuff, while they say it can be controlled by MIDI they don't publish the details so you can do it without requiring their software. People have had varying degrees of success working out what they're doing, like https://github.com/rhofour/audiofuse-cli

theres a look inside the interface in julians video. ESS and Cirrus, don't remember the exact name of these chips.
i will say, that their previous rack interface, the 8pre, sounded fantastic. i used it to track drummaschines and record synths and vocals. and after watching julians video, im confident that it's a very good sounding interface.
