Any motorcyclists on this forum?

Yum. Had a Kawasaki KR1-S back in the day. Always fancied either a YZ490 of CR500 as an arm wrenching on/off road option...
Gotta love crazy two strokes!

Hint:you can up it from stop with 5th gear if you want

Bike week just started at Daytona - weather was nice yesterday, so I took a scenic route to the speedway. Took a few photos - first one has my blue Wing in it. Walked around awhile and enjoyed the "freak show" a bit.
That second photo of a Beemer masquerading as a Harley cracked me up.
Great day, too bad it's supposed to rain all day today. :(
The rest of the week looking pretty good.
Be safe, ride sober.

My bike a 2001 Honda Vtr sp1 i have it since 2005, and still great to ride it.
Under 7000tpm its one of the strongest sportbikes out there, even compared to modern 1000cc bikes.

That seems to have the performance nearly the same as my Suzuki B-King had. Perfect bike for travelling IF it had out front Pegs for stretching your legs. They didn't make any aftermarket ones for the B-King when I looked all over for them. My legs would be killing me after 1 hour so I rode jacked up on Vicodin all the time. Those were fun times. Also back when you could actually get Vicodin, those days are long gone now.

LOL, those were the days.
I got a million stories from way back then.

Some pics of last saturday at Valencia circuit, on the "Racing Legeds" event.
Really awesome to see all many historical bikes on track.

Thanks for the images. I've been reading news for several hours and this really picked me up. :D

Hey Everyone,
I have not been on a motorcycle in many years. My first bike was a '68 Yamaha 125cc Enduro dirt bike which I received in parts from a neighbor for helping him remove the old, rebuild and replace it with a 327ci in his 56 Chevy BelAair 2 door. I learned a lot about cars from that guy. My friends had Maico and Bultaco bikes and later with help from Grandma I got a slightly used '70 Husqvarna 250. That friend sponsored the three of us in a local dirt bike club, the source of much fun, learning, hijinks and a little underage beer drinking.

Lately I just happened upon this miniseries (6 eps) Born Racers that sent be back to those days. So, if you like high speed racing with great camerawork and are interested how young want to be racers and the some often pushy too rich parents live vicariously through their kids, this is very cool show about coming of age with very competitive motorcycle racing. On many streaming services.

We need to get @Sal1950 in here, to have him brag about his new "motorcycle"... though it got a 'spare' wheel/tire combo.;)
It looks very cool, and a wise decision... but (and unfortunately) you can't split lanes with it!

My new ride:
Rocket3R.jpg

The audio? It's either:
  • iPhone > Sena SRL3 or,
  • iPhone > "My Triumph" connectivity module > Sena SRL3
The "My Triumph" connectivity module acts as a BT router between the source (iPhone in my case) and the headphones (rider Helmet only in my case, but you can have two audio devices) and integrates with the bike TFT display and command joystick for phone, navigation, audio, and even Go-Pro (no idea what it does with go-pro's).

The Sena SRL3 is a custom BT audio module designed for Shoei helmets. They appear to be proud of their "Sound by Harman Kardon" speakers and mic...

My (audio) experience:

The phone integration with the "My Triumph" stuff is pretty slick and works well, although overwhelming at first: many interactivity options to figure out between the bike joystick, the Helmet buttons, Siri, and Sena's own assistant.
Apple Music & Qobuz, the two streaming services I subscribe to, are fine but... any speed above, say ~55mph, and it's way too noisy to enjoy any type of music. Although cranking up the volume can cover the ambient noise, it becomes unbearably loud! I like the idea of giving Amir some fun by sending him my audio-enabled helmet for measurement--after all, it's nothing but a "special" headphones/headset... but I don't think it'll mean much considering the signal-to-noise ratio I experience riding the bike... Plus, it's a case where the noise (the bike it is) is actually more enjoyable than most of my Qobuz tracks !!! :D A new "noise-to-signal" metric?
The SRL3 does have a few basic EQ presets. Same thing, unless I decide to wear my helmet inside the house and when I go to bed... I don't think it is worth testing! :D
I haven't tried using a BT (Android) DAP as a source, but it should work as well...

I bee's here. LOL
The new sled was a necessity of life at my old age.
After close to 60 years of riding I was going nuts not being able to jam down the highways like I had done for so many decades. Neuropathy in the feet and legs causing balance issues and a bunch more problems handling big bikes. :(
Live To Ride and Ride To Live, that never goes away!

The new Can-Am Ryker Sport is a barrel of fun and all that, it's just taking some time getting used to.
One I really didn't expect was the braking, I'd spent a bunch of time in the saddle of H-D TriGlide's but even they still have the front brakes on the right handlebar. My normal braking style was to use the fronts for about 90%, only touching the rear under really aggressive need times. This Ryker has nothing on the bars and a couple times I've had a bit of a  because muscle memory just took control and I reached for the brake lever. Funny it should be so, never happens driving cars???
And of course the steering, leaning does near nothing, nor will counter-steering work, In fact it's the opposite, steer and lean into the direction of the turns. Also turning the bars is surprisingly heavy.
So yea, it's very different, but that's just life in the big city as they say. I can't even use the old biker salute of 2 fingers down now, I guess I'll have to get used to flashing 3. LOL
It's been raining every day here and the bike has always been full of mud and dirt since I got it so I'm posting this stock photo again. As soon as I can get a couple decent ones I'll put them up, but this is the exact same model and color as mine.

Those wheels are super cool but those mirrors are.... a whole other story.:(
Couple of bullet vidcams camouflaged inside fenders w/a central LCD would have been trick.

Looks pretty awesome to me Sal.
Good on ya.
Splendid.

Yea I've been thinking on them since I first saw the bike.
I had the same issue with the lollypops on my Ducati Monster and a few more, fugly.
Maybe a set of bar-end mount rectangular's?
Time will tell. LOL

@Sal1950 so how does it go flat out from a standstill? Squealing tire and smoke?
LOL, I'm still getting comfortable on it, I've only had it 3 days, I haven't really tried any of that stuff yet but I don't think it has that kind of power, it's no hot-rod. That would be a big (205mm-8") square automotive type tire to break loose.
The CVT trans does give it some torque boost but still we're really only talking about (87hp@8000rpm & 58ftlb@6500rpm) and near 650lbs wet, not including my fat a-s. Again the CVT trans does make for a very lively acceleration curve. I haven't seen any 1/4 mile times but top speed is limited at 111mph. There are some ignition tuners available, etc; aren't there always, I've read of very near 120 post tuning. The best news is that Rotax 3 cyl engine is used in everything from 2 and 3 wheel bikes, waverunners and boats, airplanes, etc: and should be tuff as nails.

Here's a turbo Ryker running a 11.5 et @ 112.44 mph :p

Sal, those Rotax engines are bullet proof. My recommendation (since you didn't ask :D) is leave it stock. It is not a hot rod or a show piece, it is a hard core high mileage rider and excels in that category. That is a VERY nice ride. You will have a lot of older Harley guys jealous! I hope you have many fun rides on that bike.
