    T-Line 101?

I've been watching Hexibase again recently. Very cool designs with varying orders/degrees of acoustic suspension and t-lines. I see things like fluid-dynamics, mechanical inductance/impedance, and wave guides, and while I know a little about each, I still think I'm missing a lot here, enough...

    Just arrived today...

Came in a big brown box with "engineering evaluation" on it (not for a product, but increases the fun factor). https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/673cf5977476dddd8360dc22/67d896ff7f855ecb8ec229c5_SDW70C30-4A%20Datasheet%20Rev.%20D.pdf...

    More Bending Wave Stuff?

Is Tectonic the only game in town for bending wave drivers (that aren't huge and expensive)? Only other one I can find is by Dayton. Also, is there any practical implementation of an exciter out there? It seems like most of them are treated like toys... Would like to examine a design if anybody...

    Hodgepodge

Identical post on DIY ( https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/hodgepodge.426026/ ) Quick story: Went to my storage unit and found some parts I never used for an old project I canned. A pair of KEF SP1632 drivers and a few dayton 5 1/2" Epique drivers. So I was playing around in CAD to see...

    Sub 1V SINAD?

I looked at one of the reviews a while ago ( https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/tanchjim-luna-portable-hp-amp-dac-review.58272/ ) and one thing that stuck out to me was that at 50mV, sinad was way less than the best case scenario. What makes it difficult to get better...

    In need of a builder...

Due to some recent life events I no longer have the means to make my own DIY speaker, but I would still like to have a custom speaker. I am in need of a builder. Yes, this is a paid gig. If you are local to eastern PA, then that's even better. If you're interested, please either post here or...

    Bass Speaker Omnidirectivity vs Placement?

Bass below ~300Hz becomes omnidirectional. If placing a driver on/in an enclosure for that band and lower, does the position, placement, or direction of the driver matter?

    What DSP Can/Can't DO

https://sound-au.com/articles/enclosures.htm#s21 Speakers. Lots of ways to build them. Lots of physics involved. The advent of DSP simplifies a lot of aspects, but its not a magic bullet. So, for clarity, from the most basic to the most complex aspects, what can DSP do, and what can't it do?

    Materials Science and Speaker Enclosures

Lately I've been reading up on different materials that they use to make speaker enclosures... which lead me to even more materials NOT used in speaker enclosures (yet). I've even jumped down the composites rabbit hole... it's deep. But something sticks out to me: there doesn't seem to be a...

    Check my math please?

Making a DIY speaker and want to make sure I have my sensitivities right before I make any purchases. Going to be going active with this one with a hypex fusion amp. Drivers: https://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/ribbon-tweeters/raal-70-20xr-am-extended-range-ribbon-tweeter/ sensitivity...

    Unknown T/S Parameters

A little while ago for a DIY project I got a set of speaker drivers from KEF. Specifically the SP1785 (the uni-core driver in the KC62). I've tried contacting KEF, but they don't seem very forthcoming when it comes to T/S parameters (shout out to Jeff on their discord though super helpful guy)...

    Is MCT A Thing?

Like it says on the tin. Mid, Coax, Tweeter. I've looked around and haven't seen one in the wild so I'm guessing there's a reason why. Is it more than just "a coax has a tweeter already" or is there more to it?

    Mixed Semiconductor Output Stage

Like it says on the tin. Been looking at all kinds of transistors from bog standard BJT to RF HEMT. From my understanding, configurations like darlington, sziklai (can never remember the spelling of that), and composit amplifiers allow you to mix and match properties of different semiconductors...

    Speakers: Technology Vs Implementation

There are lots of different types of speakers. Some tout the technology is simply better, others say they implement it the best. A lot of people say companies like RAAL, Bliesma, Purifi, etc. are the best, but I've also seen a lot out there that can give them a run for their money. What's the...

    ADC Based Feedback

I was reading something @Curvature sent me yesterday (very good read thanks again) and came across something I don't quite get. In a presentation by Bruno Putzeys, it depicts what I was told was always a bad idea: using an ADC as feedback. Wouldn't there be a lot of group/phase delay on the line...

    Best Starting Point

When designing a class D amplifier, is it better to use a PWM modulator, or the DSD/PDM signal straight from the modulator? Or does it really depend on the design?

    Daily Double!

(I hope you Jeopardy! fans out there were amused) 1) When calculating for volume, is that including or excluding the insulating material? 2) In terms of a passive radiator, would it change any of the parameters it needs to function? (volume, displacement, etc.)
