Can you sneak Purifi modules into one of these chassis?
McIntosh did it with Hypex.

McIntosh did it with Hypex.

The best combo would be a tube preamp, and high quality class D amp.

Not sure how you're getting these great prices for the Accuphase, but I'd go with the E-5000, just because I could and would want the extra power. Would I need it? Likely not, but if I'm getting an end game, rest-of-my-life amp, then why not? That said, the E-4000 is stellar as well. No way to lose with either Accuphase.

For the people suggesting Topping, it is not in the same league as Accuphase. If you want an amp that measures well, but then may blow up on you within a year's time, go for a Topping, particularly their latest offerings. Accuphase is for the buyer who cares about quality and reliability and the ability to purchase an amp that will last a lifetime. Measurements only matter if your amp actually functions.

We all derive pride based upon our own individual parameters.
Shortly after joining ASR I did a dramatic downsize and upgrade from a mountain of Linn gear to Genelec and Topping which I’m just if not more proud of.

The best part of the downsize with all the extra cash I bought a used Harley.

First contender is the one I’m leaning towards at roughly $5000

Second is the Accuphase E5000 at $8000:

Third, the odd duck at $6000

Are these prices for New or demo Accuphase models?

Thanks.

Of these three amps? And why? Not Benchmark or Purify or whatever you have at home. RTFQ, ATFQ.

I’m planning my endgame amplifier and have my heart set on Accuphase. Of the two the more expensive model is 50% more. I’m leaning towards the E4000 as I do not foresee using balanced inputs. Im planning on getting the discrete phono and dac card. Combined with an MC record player that would be it. The third option and odd man out is the 66lbs single transistor push pull Denon SX1 limited. To me the Accuphase is electronics porn on a higher level than the Denon but i’m still curious about this flagship model as it has some interesting features.
