Newly broken stereocilia on the hair cells in the inner ear are repaired within a week via a newly discovered process.
Possibly, this new process could open up the repair of older injuries.
I suspect there are many potential patients/customers here on this forum.
The market for a pill with this function is about 1 billion patients, estimated by the WHO.

It’s important to note that the authors here are describing a naturally-occurring repair process that is, presumably, already at work. There’s a wide gap between this and finding a therapy that will correct or even prevent noise-induced hearing damage. But it does suggest a possible pathway towards such an intervention through activation of XIPR2, and up to now no such pathway was known. So, if replicated, this is certainly an interesting result.
